Kiotoshisaka
of
Shimosha
is
settled
at
the
entrance
of
Hagikura
area.
It
is
in
Shimosuwa-cho
along
to
the
Rote142.
It
is
very
near
to
Ochiai-Power
Station which
had
given
electricity
to
Suwa
area
in
Meiji
era.
Kiotoshisaka
is
a
mountain
32 meter
high,
with
angle
of
35
degree
,
and
100
meter
long.
Now
it
is
famous
all
over Japan
reported
by
TV
news
and
by
other
media. I
tried
to
touch
the
ground
myself and
could
understand
how
the
slope
is
slippery
and
muddy.
The
grinding
huge log weighted
more
than
6
or
7
tons
! Please
imagine
how
it
is
dangerous
and
needs brave
heart!
It
is
said
many
were
died.
Kiyari-song
says
, "It's
the
Man's trial." Nobody
can
find
from
when
this
custom
had
begun. There
is
not
any
photograph showing
men
riding
on
the
logs before
1938. On
the
other
hand,
there
is
a
report that
a
brave
man
was
on in Taisho era.(1920)
Shimosha
Yamadashi
Festival
continued
3
days,
counting
total
523,000
persons. To
compare
with
the
last
event,
37,000
larger
people
visited
this
time. It
is
the
most
successful
in
the
history
of Onbashra.
