7.Primrose Hill

In 1840, Primrose Hill opened to the public.
They say the summit is 206 feet , 62.8 m, above the Trinity High-water mark of the Thames.

In the first scene of gBridget Jones : the Edge of Reasonh,Bridget was running up a hill.
I thought, gWhat?! The scene is like eSound of Musicf. Why? However, the hill seems to be a little gentle and tame.h
And no wonder! It wasn't a mountain but a hill. Moreover, it was in London. It was Primrose Hill opposite London Zoo.
On the map of London, Primrose Hill is in the middle of the upper limit, or isn't shown.
gI didn't know that such place existed in London..h I was interested in the hill. Thus, I decided to visit.
Looking at a map, I couldn't find a train station near Primrose Hill. It's near to London Zoo, but Regents Park station and London Zoo are located on the opposite side of the Park ; the station is far from London Zoo. St. Johns Wood station seemed to be nearer, so I chose to get off the train there.
I walked along Acacia Road to Primrose Hill holding the gA Zh in my bag. When Acacia Road and Avenue Road crossed, I turned right. Then, the road crossed into Prince Albert Road, I turned left. Soon, Primrose Hill appeared in sight.
Some people were playing catch ball with their children and others were taking their dogs for a walk. Some people were talking with their friends sitting on benches or on the grass. Time seemed to pass slowly.
Fortunately, during the trip, the weather was fine every day. It means I had to walk around in a kind of scorching heat. Therefore, when I arrived at Primrose Hill, I was a little tired. Soon after entering the park, I saw the gentle slope. However, even the gentle slope sickened me. Ha ha ha!
At that time, teenage brothers were running up the hill briskly saying, gHey, Dad and Mom, Look!h Their exuberance gave me some energy. I walked up the hill slowly.
The top of Primrose Hill is a kind of viewing point. There was a map explaining what the buildings in sight were. I could see a large part of London City. It was enjoyable.

* The "A Z" called the "A to Z", iz a detail map of London. There are some kinds of "A Z"s according to usage. I bought a "Mini London A Z". It contains a huge index at the back of the book. Using this index, we can find the place which we want to go to from its name or the name of a nearby steet.

The next year, I got on a bus toward London Zoo at Regents Park and then, walked to Primrose Hill. There is a canal between Regents Park and Primrose Hill, named "Regents canal", The atmosphere was quite good.

A leaflet which I got at the Visitor Centre in Piccadilly Circus.
It introduces various spots where "Bridget Jones : The Edge of Reason" was filmed.
