Day Trip from Sapporo

Jozankei Onsen (Hot Springs in Sapporo)

Jozankei is a hot spring area located in the south of Sapporo. It takes about one hour from Sapporo city center by local bus. A lot of hotels and the hot spring facilities accept the day trip bathing.

Day trip package ticket
This ticket includes return bus tickets from Sapporo station to Jozankei, and fee for a hot spring one-day use. You can choose one facility of hot spring in Jozankei.
Hoheikyo Dam
This dam is further in the interior from the hot spring street. It is possible to go to parking lot of the dam by bus. In the area of dam, public car is banned to enter. So electric bus runs from parking lot to the dam.
Especially in autumn, this gorge is very beautiful with colored leaves.
Kappa (water imp)
There is water imp's legend in Jozankei.
You will find some water imps' bronze statues in this area. Or you might meet a true water imp!

Tip: "Jozan" was the name of monk who found this hot-springs. "Kei" means a ravine or valley in Japanese. So "Jozan-kei" means that the ravine which was found by Jozan.

Lake Shikotsu and Hot Springs

This lake is a caldera lake that belonged in the Shikotsu Toya National Park and was enclosed by mountains. Some of the mountains, like Mt.Tarumae, Mt.Eniwa, have a lava dome.
Lake Shikotsu is an ice-free lake which is located in the northernmost of Japan.

There are some hot-springs facilities including accommodation which accept one-day use on the bank of the lake.
Mt.Eniwa
This mountain is an active volcano. The slope of Mt.Eniwa was used for Sapporo Olympic.
Mt.Tarumae
This mountain is also an active volcano. And it is a threefold composite volcano.

Sightseeing Bus for Day Trip from Sapporo

There are many courses of sightseeing bus for day trip. You don't need to care about transportation, the bus directly brings you to sightseeing spots! Some of courses include meal.
