Ruins in Hokkaido
There were many mines in Hokkaido. Almost all of them have been closed.
Around those mines, there were towns. Some of them are in ruins today. So you can see them as heritage.
Also there are some remains places of the ancient in Hokkaido as well.
For example, there is the MOYORO shell mound in Abashiri. The shell mound
belongs to the Okhotsk culture.

- Coal Mine Museum in Yubari
- There are also "Mining Lifestyle Museum" and "Yubari Fossil
Museum" as well.
- Kounomai Gold Mine
- It was the third biggest gold mine in Japan. Today, the town is in ruins,
and you can see the ruin of school, the ruins of walls of house and so
on in forest.
- Hayopira Park
- It is the ruins of a park in Biratori. This park was built by the association
which's called "Cosmic Brotherhood Association".
The park seemed to be for contacting with UFO.
- Moyoro Shell Mound
- Ruins of Moyoro show the difference from other ruins in Japan. The house
of Moyoro people was like to the house of Gilyak. And it is said that Moyoro
people was different from Ainu. The culture and people of Moyoro disappeared
suddenly in the 13th century.
