Have you ever heard of Shikimi-konnyaku?

What is Shimi konnyaku?

Shimi-Konnyaku (commonly called ShimiKon) is a very unique food product in Japan

The Konnyaku is laid out in a rice field covered with straw during the severe
winter season, and water is poured over it four times a day.
The process of freezing at night and melting during the day is repeated for
20 days in the natural cold air of the mountains. After that, it is dried in nature
for about 7 days to remove the water.
When the wind blows, the Shimi-konnyakue will fly up in the wind.
This is the signof harvest.
The Shimi-konnyaku is then harvested by hand, formed andpackaged to
become "Shimi-konnyaku.
If kept away from moisture, it can be stored for more than 50 years.
In today's parlance, it is a "natural freeze-dried food" and "low-calorie,
high in dietary fiber.

On the surface of the Sjimi-Konnyakuf you can see "small holes", which are the
remains of straw. This means that it was grown in a "straw cradle". It is a
naturally freeze-dried product and can be preserved for more than 50 years
if kept dry.

In 1985, we were a farmer who manufactured one Shimi-konnyakunationwide,
but now three companies make Shimi-konnyaku

able to make your own dishes with fiber-rich and low -calorie shimi-konnyaku

This winter 2022, due to last year's rains, we were a week late in laying out the konnyaku the rice paddies and started on January 6. This year, in addition to the regular size Shimikonnyaku for face washing, we are also making a larger Shimi-konnyaku for washing the body.
