HOJIRO YASUI IS an industrial hygienist who earned a master of science degree from the Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard University, along with a doctor of science degree from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
While serving as deputy director for the Office for Radiation Protection
of Workers in Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Yasui
took charge of radiation protection for the emergency responders and decontamination/remediation
workers involved with the Fukushima Daiichi Atomic Power Plant accident,
a position he held from May 2011 to March 2016.
