１９６８年、カナダ・ハリファックス生まれ。
小さな頃からピアノ、ギター、声楽などを習ってきたが
思春期にはニューウェーブ系の音楽にハマった。
バンドで歌っていたところをレコード会社からスカウトされ、
１９８８年、『Touch』でメジャーデビュー。
3rd『Fumbling Towards Ecstacy』で、
プロデューサーであるピエール・マーチャンドと出会ったことが転機となり、
才能が一気に開花。
１９９７年発表の『Surfacing』での大ブレイクにつながっていく。
その他にも、女性アーティストだけのライブ"Lilith Fair"を
自ら主催・運営するなど、行動力も特筆すべき点が多い。
また、１９９７年に、長年バックでドラムを叩いている
Ashwin Soodと結婚。
２００２年にはお子さんが誕生、
そして２００３年には最新アルバムをリリースという流れで、
お母さんとなったサラの新境地が聴けるのではないかと
ワクワクしているところだ。 |
