1974年、カナダ生まれ。
17歳のとき、カナダで歌手デビューし、ヒットもしたが
アイドル扱いをされてしまい、本人としては納得いかず。
1994年、アメリカのレーベル（マドンナが社長のマーヴェリック）と契約し、
1stアルバム『Jagged Little Pill』を発表。
シングル"You Oughta Know"の強烈なインパクトが
世界に与えた影響はすさまじく、その後アラニス・タイプの
「感情をストレートに表現する」アーティストが続出。
ちなみに、このアルバムは'90年代で一番売れたアルバムだ。
その後は、我が道を歩くトップアーティストとして
着実に磨きがかかってきている。
現在、ミッシェル・ブランチやアブリル・ラヴィーンや
椎名林檎や矢井田瞳が活躍できるのは
もしかすると、アラニスのおかげなのかもしれない。 |
