The US third subcritical test was conducted on March 25 (early morning on 26th, Japan time) at the Nevada Test Site after the second test last September.

15 Hidankyo members visited the US Embassy in Tokyo and strongly protested against the testing. In front of the gates, Mariko Ida, Executive member of Hidankyo, read a letter against the testing to President Clinton aloud and handed it to a gatekeeper of the Embassy.

The main points of Hidankyo's demands are:

1. To cancel all tests for nuclear weapons including subcritical tests.

2. To eliminate all possessing nuclear weapons.

3. To conclude with an international treaty for the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Then, the Hidankyo members visited Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they met Disarmament Section members and asked to protest against the testing as the Japanese Government, handing a letter for Keizo Obuchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Hidankyo also sent a letter every political party in order that it works on the Government in favor of Hidankyo's demands.
