From monthly paper "Hidankyo" - June 98

Protest the underground nuclear tests India and Pakistan conducted

India conducted five underground nuclear tests on May 11 and 13, while Pakistan did six tests on 28 and 30. These tests of both the countries challenge the public opinion for abolition of nuclear weapons.

Hidankyo made acts against the tests in down towns and visited embassies of India and Pakistan three times in all. Hidankyo representatives met a counselor of Indian embassy and secretary of Pakistan embassy, where the representatives called on them not to create Hibakusha(A-bomb sufferers) any more.

Many Local Hidankyo also protested the tests with anger. Letter to Prime Minister of India

"The A-bomb and Humanity" photo set Hidankyo produced has been exhibited in various places in the world. Among them, we received reports from Volgograd co-op, Russia, and Manchester co-op, UK.

The Volgograd co-op held the exhibition under the topic of "Peace in the World" at the university of Volgograd with 6,000 visitors. Director of the co-op says "citizens stared the photos with deep sorrow and shock because we seriously suffered during the World WarU".

The co-op of Manchester exhibited the photos at the hall of the Head Office when they received the photos from co-op of Hiroshima. They have a plan to ask other co-ops to hold the exhibition.
