National Event "Let's hand down the lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki"

On August 8 National Event "Let's hand down the lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki" was held in Nagasaki sponsored by Hidankyo and Nagasaki Hibakusha Association.

In the event Senji Yamaguchi, Co-Chairperson of Hidankyo, addressed to 500 participants, "As long as nuclear weapons exist in the world, Hibakusha never die in peace."

Nori Tohei, Secretary General of Hidankyo, appealed to make known the real feature of sufferings from nuclear weapons widely toward nuclear free world in the 21st century.

Then, the participants saw "The A-Bomb and Humanity", which was produced for panel exhibition by Hidankyo, by means of lantern slide and heard testimonies of Hibakusha. Some of the participants were in tears hearing the testimonies.

A Japanese and an American member of Lawyers of Against Nuclear Arms and Denis Nelson, Downwinder in Nevada also appealed to the participants.

Memorial Ceremony of Korean A-bomb victims was held in Seoul.

On August 9, Committee of A-bomb sufferers in the Republic of Korea held Memorial Ceremony of Korean atomic bomb victims in Seoul.

Wataru Nakatani, executive member of Hidankyo, attended the Ceremony on behalf of Hidankyo.

President of the Committee addressed the attendants "Many fellows died in pain due to suffering from the atomic bombs. Thinking of them we feel sorrow. "No more Hibakusha" is the desire of all of us."

Nakatani spoke in solidarity, "We know your pain in such a cruel experience of A-bombing. You must have struggled to returning to homeland. From now let's work together for peace."
