The Lake District2

The lake which we visited with the bus tour. From here, we boarded the ferry and saw around the lake.

On my second trip to the Lake District, we flew from Ireland. We got up at a few minutes past 5 o'clock in the morning and took a taxi to the airport. Then, we flew to Manchester. Finally, we got on a direct train to the Lake District.
Total duration of the trip was 8 nights and 9 days. We stayed in Ireland for 4 nights. Therefore, it was a very short trip, but we decided to visit Windermere also. The purpose of the trip was to go to John kershaw's pottery near Windermere station.
After Akiko began to say that she wanted to go to the pottery, she bagan to take great interest in our schedule. She found out that there was a direct train from Mancehster to the Lake District, so she said, "Why don't we fly to Manchester, not to Heathrow, from Ireland?", or "I have written to Mr. Kershaw and asked if he would open his shop during our trip. He answered he would." She did many similar things prior to our visit to Windermere.
At around 1 o'clock, we arrived the B&B. Just as we breathed a sigh of relief, the proprietor asked us if we would join a bus tour. She said that the bus tour would start at1:30, so we had only 30 minutes.
I wanted to go, because it had been a long journey to Windermere. I wanted to see the scenery which I'd never seen. However, the purpose was visiting the porttery, so I asked Akiko, "What do you think?" She said, "We can go to the pottery after taking the bus tour, so Let's join the tour!"
When we were ready, we still had 10 minutes before the departure, so we went to the pottery. "I'm away for lunch. I'll be back around 2 o'clock." Therefore, we decided to visit the pottery the next morning and got on the tour bus.

Our bus tour started on the lake cruising.
It was a fine day, so lake cruising was really confortable. We had a happy time!!

We found a lovely hotel during the bus tour.
I think that the name, "FISH HOTEL" is somehow appealing.

Probably, we couldn't see such beautiful mountain scenery without a car.
I was satistied joining the tour.

The bus tour started on the lake crusing. After that, we got on the bus again and visited Casterigg Stone Circle which is managed by the National Trust. Casterigg Stone Circle is thought to be one of the earliest Neolithic stone circles. 33 stones are scattered in a large field. I think that it is like a small Stonehenge.

Castlerigg Stone Circle which is managed by the National Trust.
It isn't on such a large-scale compared to Stonehenge, but nontheless it has some mysterious atmosphere.

The next day, after we left our luggage at the station, we went to John Kershaw's pottery. We talked with him and he showed us his workshop. We had a happy time. Although the trip was a tight schedule, I thought the pottery was worth visiting.
He said that his works were displayed at a shop in Ambleside. Probably, it was the same shop which I bought a etching the year before. Actually, I had thought that I would go to the shop if time permitted. Moreover, he recommended us to visit, so we decided to go to Ambleside again using a few hours before catching a train to London. Once I like a place, I visit there again and again although I think I want to go to a new place which I've never been.
I have heard that in the Lake District, there is a house which William Wordsworth had lived in. Apart from it, I still have many places to visit in the district. I have thought that I will return again some time, but I haven't fullfilled my wish thus far.
