Jun. 17, 2002
--- HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival 2002
HBO Bryant Park 1
  1. Hello, everybody! The outdoor season has come! In summer, a lot of FREE events take place across New York City.
Today's event I join is The HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival 2002 (42nd Street and 6th Avenue), for 10th year in a row.

  2. People are relaxed with their own styles, eating, chatting, napping, or whatever they like. Some people are already in a sweet mood...
a band playing
  3. At the beginning of the dusk, a band is playing. (Don't ask me who they are...)
Mayor Bloomberg
  4. Then, Mayor Michael Bloomberg (right of three) shows up! That's because today is the first day of the series of this event. He celebrates this event as "a wonderful phenomenon in one of the greatest cities in the world."
the beginning
  5. After we are forced to wait half an hour for getting dark enough, finally the movie starts by the advertising films. It's just around 9 p.m.. It has been more than 3 hours since I got here.
dancing with HBO
  6. People are dancing by the HBO music with a big excitement... Why??? What happens to them...?
On the Town
  7. Today's main film starts! Its title is On the Town.
thundershower
  8. Buuut, it suddenly starts raining and lightning... Some run out of here, and some begin to take blankets or umbrellas. Oh, my goodness! This season is basically pleasant but we often have showers and thunders.
call it
  9. I wanna see the entire movie, but give up in the middle of it because of my soaked butt.

This event goes every Monday night until August 19. The information about the titles or else is to see Bryant Park - HBO Bryant Park Film Festival.

Jun. 24, 2002 --- Taste of Times Square

1. At 5 pm of following Monday afternoon, Taste of Times Square opens at 46th Street between Broadway and 9th Avenue.
As a kick-off, we have a ribbon cutting celebration. Look, the "ribbon" is not a ribbon. That's a plate of NOODLE! Ha,ha,ha---! (But why?)

2. This event is that more than 50 restaurants in Times Square give us their sample dishes by exchanging Taste tickets ($1/1tkt), also annually that reaches 9th.
This is a good chance to taste these "finest" restaurant's dishes with no dameges our own pockets. Everybody thinks, "Don't miss my target dishes!"

3. Times Square Cafe. Today they serve Raspberry Almond Tarts, Tiramisus, etc. I choose a Low Fat Yogurt Mousse with 3 Tickets. That's veeeeery good.

Jun. 25, 2002 --- A commencement at BMCC
graduated women
  1. May through June is also commencements season.
These scenes are at my college, BMCC (Borough of Manhattan Community College). They seem to just have finished their commencement ceremony and are taking a lot of snapshots. Congratulations!
graduated men
  2. Women are wearing navy-blue gowns, and men are pale-green.
In fact, I saw the similar scenes last week when they were wearing different colors. I guess these are each one of small divisions, because the main ceremony must have been finished on May 30 at Madison Square Garden.
Anyway, I hope I'll be among them in a few years!

Jun. 26, 2002 --- Summer in the Square 2002

1. On an early Wednesday afternoon, at Union Square Park (East 14th between 17th Street), relatively near my college, a wonderful concert is held as one of Summer in the Square 2002 consert series.
It's perfectly nice for my feeling to be relaxed. I really enjoy them.
