fading summer

fading summer (an unwritten love letter)

Perhaps it's not you that I miss,
It's the warmth of the hand,
The feel of relief in those arms,
The thrill when my name is uttered,
But it's not you.

It's the terms 'we' and 'us',
The glances and smiles exchanged between,
The distant whispers of pain,
But it's not you.

It's the sense of security,
With a little anxiety,
The warm summer air fading
In the chill of the evening breeze,
But it's not you that I really miss.

Perhaps.
