The numerical methods for analysis of discontinuous deformation have been making great progress in geo-mechanics, civil engineering and natural disaster mitigation for the latest two decades. The achievements and experiences related to these methods have been well shared and exchanged in the International Conference on Analysis of Discontinuous Deformation (ICADD). Since the first ICADD in 1995, there have been 10 successful conferences. Now, the primary event in this field - the 11th conference (ICADD-11) will be held in Fukuoka, Japan, during August 27-29, 2013.
The theme of the conference is 'Practical Numerical Simulations in Engineering & Disaster Prevention'. ICADD-11 covers all aspects of discontinuous methods, from theories to practices, in both engineering and other domains, such as disaster prevention, earthquake simulation and so on. It aims to exchange ideas and new developments, and to promote practical applications of the numerical simulations in various fields. Different from the previous meetings, ICADD-11 will publish the full papers peer-viewed by at least two reviewers. Meanwhile, the abstract-only papers are planned for poster presentation.
The venue for the conference is located in the heart of Fukuoka, one of the 'World’ s 10 Hottest Cities'. It has comfortable climate and convenient access to subways, restaurants and hotels. The participants will have an excellent opportunity to contemplate the present development and future directions of the discontinuous numerical methods, as well as to enjoy traditional and modern Japan.
We would like to invite colleagues to join us for promoting the advances of the discontinuous numerical methods. And we are looking forward to receiving your abstracts and seeing all of you in Fukuoka. We are sure that you will bring home an unforgettable memory from the upcoming ICADD-11.
