Subject: [amsat-bb] WiSP Update - GSC 2.02
From: Roy Welch [rdwelch (at) swbell.net]

Hi Guys,

Chris has asked me to upload an update for the WiSP32 GSC module.
This update only corrects the problem with year 2000 keps updating.
There may be an additional update of GSC soon to correct some other
items. The file will be put on KO-25, UO-22 and is already on the
AMSAT ftp site at

http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ftp/software/win32/wisp/

The file will be GSC202.ZIP.
It has also been incorporated in the WiSP3213.EXE file.

As always retain your old GSC until you are satisfied with the update.
It seems to be working OK here.

From: Roy Welch [rdwelch (at) swbell.net]

Hi Guys,

Chris has released GSC 2.03 which seems to have corrected the Track Box
problem. It has been tested at a site where the Track Box is being used
and where the problem was experienced. This version corrected it.
It will be uploaded to KO-25, UO-22 and the AMSAT ftp site at
http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ftp/software/win32/wisp/
The file will be GSC203.zip.

Chris has burned some midnight oil getting this update out.
There are a few more items you will find in this version.

Here's the additions list -:

1. Tx Port: In TNC Setup the item 'Tx Port' has been added. This is
only used for TNCs with multiple modems such as the Symek TNC3S.
It switches the the PTT control between the two modems. In general,
this should be set to 0 for single modem TNCs. It will only be used
when a new version of MSPE is released in the next couple of weeks.

2. Rotator Ports: COM1 to COM12 can be used for the rotator port.

3. DDE Interface: The current MA number has been added to the end
of the DDE string.

4. There is an additional item for Satgates on the Satgate Tab of the
Satellite Setup.

5. The Flip Mode seems to work now. I just checked it out last night
and it went into the flip mode on a pass. This was not one of the items
in Chris'list of fixes for this version, but it may be fixed now anyway.
Try it out.

As usual keep your old version until you are satisfied with the perfor_
mance of this one.

====================
How to install WiSP
====================

1. Make 'wisp' subdirectory such as C:/wisp, or C:/wisp32

2. Copy 'wisp32.zip' into C:/wisp and extract them.

Note : The WISP32xx.EXE file is the current format and is
self extracting. Current version is now WiSP3215.
             http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ftp/software/win32/wisp/

3. Move into another directory the next two files.

             bwcc.dll  -->  C:/Windows/System
             wisp.hlp  -->  C:/Windows

Note : No need to do this. The Install program will move
necessary files to the correct directory.

4. Run 'setup.exe' on Windows95.

5. Setup in 'WiSP Setup'.

    (1) WiSP Directory : C:/wisp
    (2) Check 'I want to register'.
    (3) Input your Callsign.
    (4) Input your Registration Number.
    (5) Click 'OK' button each the popup messages, but
        not delete PIF files.

6. Exit Windows95 and add the next words in 'autoexec.bat'.

             set tz=jst-9
             share /f:4096 /l:75
             path = c:\wisp

    And run again 'gsc.exe'.

You don't need to write these last two line commands in
'autoexec.bat'. But you must write in 'tz=est+5 ' if you
    live in N.Y.

Japan Standard Time (JST) is 9 hours fast from UTC(GMT),
so 'tz=jst-9'. Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 5 hours
    slow from UTC(GMT) ?

Note : The above is not required with WiSP32. WiSP32 takes
the time zone from the Windows Time Zone setting, not
the TZ parameter. Share is nor required and the path
is automatically set in the Setup program.

7. In the popup 'WiSP Unregistered Copy', input again your
    Registration Number and click 'Register'.
After the next run, it is not shown this message.

8. GSC - Setup - General Setup - WiSP Program Directory -

                                      Longitude 139.6 E

10. GSC - Setup - Edit MSPE equations -
In the case of a message [Not found C:/wisp/MSPE equations.TXT],
    Click 'Yes'

11. NOTEPAD File - Open - Mspeeq~1.txt - Open - File -
Save attached new file name - MSPE Equations.TXT - Save

In the message [C:/wisp/MSPE Equations.TXT Overwrite?],
    Click 'Yes'

Note : No need to do this any longer. The AMSAT distributed
versions will extract this file with the correct name.

12. GSC - Setup - Edit View-Dir equations
In the case of a message [Not found C:/wisp/View-Dir equations.TXT],
    Click 'Yes'

13. NOTEPAD File - Open - View-d~1.txt - Open -
Remove [ZL2TPO] and add [your callsign]
Remove destination="ZL" and add destination="your callsign"
Save attached new file name - View-Dir Equations.TXT - Save

In the message [C:/wisp/View-Dir Equations.TXT Overwrite?],
    Click 'Yes'

Note : No need to do this any longer. The AMSAT distributed
versions will extract this file with the correct name.
But, the part of [your callsign] must be rewritten.

14. GSC - Setup - MSPE Setup - Sat Change - Automatic - OK

15. GSC - View-Dir Setup - Maximum messages to load - 900 - OK

16. GSC - MsgMaker Setup - Message expiry time - 7 - OK

Note : Do not set this to 7. The maximum value used is 4 and
this should only be used for large files that will take
a while to download. Normally this should be left set
to 2 to keep the file space minimized on the satellite.
Even at that, the file will not be deleted at the expiration
time. At that time it is available to be deleted if the
file space is required for new messages.

17. GSC - ProcMail Setup - Automatic Keps file updating -
Check 'Update with any keps file'.

18. GSC - Database - Update Satellite Database - (ex)20107kep.txt - OK

    Then it show [Not Updated].
But when the new keps, then it show [Updated].

19. GSC - Setup - Satellite Setup - Satellites
            - New - General - Name KO-25
                              Satellite Type PacSat
                              Broadcast Callsign HL02-11
                              BBS Callsign HL02-12
                              Priority 1 (Order)
                              Frequencies (confirm)
                              TNC Settings (confirm)
                              Directries (confirm)
                              MSPE Settings (confirm)

Because the box of 'Scheduling - Pragram' is the blanks when you chose
'Analogue' in 'Satellite Type', you must add 'C:/wisp/MSPE.EXE %S'.

    GSC - Setup - Satellite Setup - Satellites - Edit -
    MSPE Settings, check below.

            Update Keps from broadcast
            Uploading enabled
            Log KISS frames
            Log Telemetry frames

            Acknowledge receipt
Load View-Dir at start of pass
Close View-Dir at end of pass etc.

Note : These are the settings when you want to validate these between
the path of the satellite. Please set it if necessary.
In addition, the setting of MSPE Settings do the same setting
once again because it do not become effective once.
Satellite Setup - Satellites - Edit - MSPE Settings

And click 'OK - Close', then GSC schedule the satellite.

There some things in that document that are no longer correct.

-------------------------
In How to install WiSP32
-------------------------

-----------SNIP--------------

2. Copy 'wisp32.zip' into C:/wisp and extract them.

The WISP32xx.EXE file is the current format and is self extracting.

-----------SNIP--------------

3. Move into another directory the next two files.

             bwcc.dll  -->  C:/Windows/System
             wisp.hlp  -->  C:/Windows

No need to do this. The Install program will move necessary files to the
correct directory.

-------SNIP-------

6. Exit Windows95 and add the next words in 'autoexec.bat'.

             set tz=jst-9
             share /f:4096 /l:75
             path = c:\wisp

The above is not required with WiSP32. WiSP32 takes the time zone from the
Windows Time Zone setting, not the TZ parameter. Share is nor required and
the path is automatically set in the Setup program.

---------SNIP-------------

11. NOTEPAD File - Open - Mspeeq~1.txt - Open - File -
Save attached new file name - MSPE Equations.TXT - Save

In the message [C:/wisp/MSPE Equations.TXT Overwrite?],
    Click 'Yes'

No need to do this any longer. The AMSAT distributed versions will extract
this file with the correct name.

--------SNIP---------

13. NOTEPAD File - Open - View-d~1.txt - Open -
Remove [ZL2TPO] and add [your callsign]
Remove destination="ZL" and add destination="your callsign"
Save attached new file name - View-Dir Equations.TXT - Save

No need to do this any longer. The AMSAT distributed versions will extract
this file with the correct name.

------------SNIP------------

16. GSC - MsgMaker Setup - Message expiry time - 7 - OK

Do not set this to 7. The maximum value used is 4 and this should only be
used for large files that will take a while to download. Normally this
should be left set to 2 to keep the file space minimized on the satellite.
Even at that, the file will not be deleted at the expiration time. At that
time it is available to be deleted if the file space is required for new
messages.

----------SNIP-----------

19. GSC - Setup - Satellite Setup - Satellites
            Acknowledge receipt

Only used by UO-22

Load View-Dir at start of pass
Close View-Dir at end of pass etc.

Only if you want this window open all during the pass. You can leave it
unloaded and call it up any time you wish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

====================================
Complete deletion and REinstall WiSP
====================================

1. Delete all,
C:/wisp directory with all wisp32 files.

2. Run regedit.exe such as,

3. Re-create a new directory,
C:/wisp directory and extract new wisp32.

4. Run,
setup.exe as the above 'How to install WiSP32'.
