TATAMI MAT
Tatami mats are about 6 feet x 3 feet x 2 inches in size. Made of reed and
straw,
and bordered with cloth, they are used for sitting or sleeping on. Shoes and
even slippers are never worn on tatami, so a tatami room encourages soft
footfall and gentle movement.
