“What makes Japanese 2-Dimensional architecture
so beautiful?”
The goal of this presentation is to analyze and
view the Japanese two-dimensional architectural
style and suggest these as elements to be used in our future design works.
<Photo-1>
In this Photo-1, we can see the
elements of Japanese two-dimensional design.
Actually all surfaces are filled by 2D-design.
TOKONOMA
The tokonoma is an alcove along one wall of a Japanese-style room. Often
next to it
is a companion alcove with asymmetrical staggered-shelf and cabinet arrangement.
The floor of the tokonoma is usually several inches off the floor to set off
a flower
arrangement, vase, or hanging scroll that can be changed to fit the occasion
and
the season.
