In this page, I'll tell you about my travel to England in 2007.

17th trip/June I traveled by myself.
Flight : Virgin Atlantic Hotel : A hotel near Covent Garden, a B&B in Torquay, and a hotel in Paddington

My work schedule had settled down, so it was a good time for travelling! However, the yen is weak ; so staying in London would be expensive. Therefore, I decided to stay in London for only 3 nights ; the only thing that I would do in London was shopping. Regardubg the rest of the nights, I planed to stay in Torquay. I had thought that 4 nights would be enough for travelling around Devon. However, there are still many places which I want to visit because I didn't have chance to go. In the future, I'll definitely visit Devon again!

1st
Day
Tokyo,Narita¨London(Covent Garden¨Paddington¨Leicester Square¨Covent Garden) I arrived at Heathrow Airport at around 3 o'clock. The hotel I booked is in Covent Garden on the Piccadilly Line and runs directly from Heathrow. Therefore, I used the underground. It was around 10 minutes past 5 when I arrived at the hotel. After checking in, I went to the Paddington station to buy a ticket to Torquay 2 days later. Then, I looked for the hotel which I planed to stay in Paddington on the last day of my trip. I took the underground and walked to Leicester Square to have chinese food.
In Covent Garden, a festival was being held. Maybe, it was a Malaysia Festival, but I'm not sure.
2nd
Day
London(Covent Garden¨Piccadilly Circus¨King's Road¨Covent Garden)
I got up at seven thirty. Unfortunately, I had a backache, my chlonic disease. Wow! However, I couldn't stay in the bed becase I was in London. I went to a cafe near the hotel to eat an English Breakfast. Then, I dropped in an Internet cafe in Trafalgar Square. After I went shopping around Picadilly Circus, I took a bus to King's Road and saw some shops. Next, I went to Hight Street Kensignton to see Marks & Spencer by underground. After that, I took the underground back to Covent Garden and left the shopping bags at the hotel. Finally, I had a roast beef dinner at Simpsons -in the Strand after walking around Covent Gardern again.
3rd
Day
London(Charring Cross¨Paddington)¨Torquay¨Greenway¨Torquay I got up at 4 : 30. Fortunately, my low back pain had disappeared. I took the 6 : 30 train from Paddingoton station and changed the train at Bristol Temple Meads. I arrived at Torquay at 10 : 30. After checking into the B&B, when I walked towards the sea, luckily I found a young guy who was seling ferry tickets. The ferry to Greenway would leave Torquay at 11 : 30 and it was almost 5 minutes before the departure time, he said, "You are just in time. Run to the ferry harbor." Therefore, I ran and ran. I was really exhausted. On the way, the ferry stopped, at Dartmouth. Most of the passengers got off the ferry and only about ten people including me visited Greenway. At 1 : 20, we arrived at Greenway. The return ferry would leave at 3 : 35, so I thought that about 2 hours was enough to see Agatha Christie's house, but the house and garden are huge and I almost got lost. At 5 : 45, I arrived at Torquay. That day, I moved from London to Torquay and visited Greenway ; it was a fraught day!

4th
Day
Torquay I got up at 6 :30. When I was on the ferry the day before, I thought that the wind was rushing against my low back, so I might have some low back pain. I was right. When I got up, I felt low back pain once again. The day's pain was more severe. I felt pain when I was walking, so even the old people walked away from me. Threfore, I gave up taking an excursion and decided to see the town of Torquay the whole day. In the morning, I went to Cokkington Village which I had visited 2 years ago. On the back way to Torquay, I got off the bus near Torquay railway station and walked to the town centre seeing the sea. Then, I visited the tourist information centre to see some leaflets. I found a bus tour to Widecombe-in the Moor, Dartmoor which was held the next day. I booked the tour. My low back pain was so severe, so I went back to my B&B and took a rest. Around 2 : 30, I went to the Imperial Hotel and had afternoon tea enjoying the sea view. After that, I took a walk around the town of Torquay.

At 10 ofclock, I joined a bus tour from Torquay. On the way, the bus stopped at Plaignton to pick up some people and arrived at Widecombe at around noon. Until 1 : 30, we had a free time, so I took some pictures, dropped in some shops and had lunch. Shortly after we arrived there, it began to rain heavily. However, fortunately, the rain stopped about 10 minutes later. At around 2 : 00, the bus arrived at House of Barbles of Bovey Tracey. It dealt with craft products such as stained-glass. Actually, I didnft buy anything. After that, we went to Buckfast Abbey. We came back to Torquay at around 5 : 30.

Torquay¨Plaignton¨Kingswear¨Dartmouth¨Kingswear¨Plaignton¨Torquay At around 9 : 50, I took a bus to Plaignton. From Plaignton, steam railways run to Kingswear and from there, we could visit Dartmouth by using a ferry. Three days before, when I visited Greenaway, I saw the town of Dartmouth form the ferry. It was fascinating, so I wanted to visit. I took the 10 : 30 train and arrived there at around 11 : 30. Firstly, I went to the tourist information centre and asked where I should visit. The employee advised me, gFor 2 or 3 hours visit, the castle would be nice.h, so I walked towards the Dartmouth Castle. It took 30 minutes. After I saw the inside of the castle, I went back to the town centre by ferry. I had lunch. Then, I took a ferry to Kingswear and next, took the 3 : 15 train to Plaignton. I arrived there at around 3 : 45. The return bus to Torquay didnft come soon, so it was almost 4 : 30 when I arrived in Torquay. I had to in a hurry to the Torquay Museum and saw Agatha Cristiefs room. Finally, I went shopping in Torquay.

Torquay¨London(Paddington¨Piccadilly Circus¨Victoria¨Camden Town¨Paddingtonj I called a taxi to go to the Torquay station. I took the 10 : 30 train to Exeter St. Davis and changed trains to London. I arrived at around 1 : 50. I checked in my hotel and at around 2 : 20, I started shopping! Firstly, I bought some souvenirs in Piccadilly Circus. After that, I went to Victoria by underground. In the station, I ate two strawberry tarts which I had bought at Marks & Spencer. Then, I took the 24 bus to Camden Town. I wanted to buy some apple crumble powders at a Sainsbury store in Camden Town which I had seen from the bus to Hampstead during last yearfs my trip. However, I didnft know where it was exactly, so I walked around Camden Town for the first time in recent years. Finally, I found out that the bus route was different between outward and return. I entered a different road from the outward route. BINGO! I found a Sainsbury store. I bought some long-cherished apple crumble power. I planed to go back to Victoria station by using a bus, but because of an extraordinary traffic jam, the bus didnft move at all. I got off the bus and took the underground train to Paddington.

8-9th
Day
London(Paddington)¨Narita Last year, when I went to Heathrow Airport, there was a long queue in front of the check-in counter. Therefore, this time, I took the 7 : 55 Heathrow Express, I checkeed in at around 8 : 30 after asking for my tax refund. It was the first time to be asked to weigh my hand luggage. The terror alert was severe, so very careful baggage checks were held. It took much time than usual to enter the boarding area. After that, I bought things at tax-free shops and had lunch. The extra time was shorter than I had expected. I arrived at Narita Airport earlier than the expected time. I thanked God for having a nice trip without any problems.
