A girl playing an accordion. I saw her near a sweater shop in Aran Islands.
The third day
Galway--Aran Islands--Galway
I woke up early in the morning, got up after 5 o'clock and took a walk
towards the sea. When I saw the sun rise, I was so happy thinking, "Ah,
it will be a fine day today!" However, once the sun rose and then
soon disappeared under the clouds. Therefore, on that day, it was cloudy
all day long. Anyway, at least it didn't rain, so I have to say it was
OK.
At almost 7 o'clock, I came back to the center of the town and saw a card
shop, which I had found the day before, much to my surprise it was open
already. Lucky!! I looked at the cards and chose some. However, when I
wanted to buy some, I couldn't find my wallet. Yes! I had left it at the
B&B because I had thought that it was a little dangerous to walk alone
early in the morning. "I'll be back soon, so please keep these cards."
I said to the proprietor. When I came back to the B&B, Makiko, my friend,
was still in the bed. Wow, how early I got up, I thought.
After eating breakfast, we got on the 9:15 bus for one hour to go to the pier. Then, we used the ferry to go to the Aran Islands. It took about thirty minutes. After we arrived there, we joined a mini-bus tour and saw the ruins of a church after that we saw the coastline.

left : the ferry which we boared from Galway to the Aran Islands. right in the second line : We saw many stones like these in many places. Walking to the cliff, there were also many stones at my feet, therefore, it was a little difficult to walk. left & the middle in the third : the cliff. On the way to the cliff, when we took pictures of each other, a tall male back-packer kindly asked us, "Shall I take your picture together?". The photo is very small, so you can't understand who he is, but the man who wearing a white T-shirt in the middle photo is he! He was sitting on the cliff and looks as if he wasn't scared at all. I was a little scared just looking down the cliff. He was so brave!! right in the third line : Although it was during the summer, some hydrangeas bloomed beautifully. |

Actually, it was the second trip to Aran Islands for Makiko who was studing
and living in Dublin at that time. After taking the mini-bus tour, we decided
to go to a restaurant which she recommended to have Irish stew. She
had found the restaurant when she visited before. She said that there was
a hard-working young waiter at this restaurant.
We ate Irish stew. It was delicious! I want to eat it again.
The fourth day
Galway--Dublin
In the morning, we left our luggage at the B&B and went shopping in
Galway. I bought more cards at the same shop where I had bought some the
previous day. Moreover, I bought some accessories including a Claddagh Ring. People say that Claddagh Rings are the symbols of "Peace and friendship".
However, I don't know that I got much benefit from it?!
After having a tea, we went back to the B&B and then took a bus to
Dublin shortly after mid-day. We met Akiko who went to Glendaloch on a
one day trip.
Originally, this page is about my trip to Ireland, but food appears yet
again! The following 3 dishes were our dinner that day. My Engel's coefficient
is very high. Therefore, should I change the title of this homepage from
"Welcome to Yoko's home" to "I am a glutton!"

Here they are! These are Irish dishes! We each ordered a different meal.
Unfortunately, I don't remember what they were! Sorry.
The fifth day
Dublin--Manchester--Windermere
We got up at 5F15. When we went down to the reception, an old man served
us two cups of tea while we were waiting for our taxi. I thought that he
was such a kind man. I was sometimes impressed by such displays of kindness
during this trip.
The taxi came ten minutes earlier than our reservation, so we left the hotel around 6F30. After that, we boarded the flight for Manchester. What for? We were going to go to John Kershaw's pottery studio in Windermere via Manchester.
