Hastings & Rye

at Rye

With a return ticket from Victoria to Hastings, we can take alternative routes on each trip ; in other words, we can go to Hastings via Eastbourne and come back to Victoria via Ashsford after getting off at Rye. My friend told me that both Hastings and Rye are lovely towns, so I decided to go to both places on the same day.

Hastings
I took the 10:47 train for Hastings. On the way, we experienced a 20 minues delay at Eastbourne, as we were waiting for the train driver to arrive. Furthermore, we had to change trains , so I arrived at Hastings after 1 o'clock. Accidents may happpen when we travel!
I visited Hasting Castle and Smmugglers Adventure which "GIO GLOBE TROTTER"* wrote about, after that, I visited some shops and streets to look at the displays. It was a beautiful day!

* "GIO GLOBE TROTTER" is a series of Japanese books which talks about travelling in each country all over the wolrd. There is a lot of valuable information which is written by many of it's readers.

While traveling from Hastings to Rye, there is Winchelsea. I heard that Turner, a famous English landscape painter, had created many paintings here. Actually, I wanted to walk around, but my friend said, "The only thing which we can see are fields. We seldom meet people there, so it might be dangerous if you go alone." Therefore, I gave up the idea and took a few pictures from a window of the train.

Rye

Rye is a small charming and lovely village. You can see large areas of the village, if you walk up the steps in the tower of St. Mary's Church which stands at the top of Lion Street. When you see the village from the top of the tower(right), it's almost as if you were in medieval time. Don't you agree?
