初のワープ航行可能な宇宙船の修理が始まります。エンタープライズ乗員にとって、
コクランは歴史上偉大な人物。地球の歴史を根底から変えた人でもあるわけです。
でもコクランは、そう思われることにうんざり。

| Ge: | Would you mind taking a look at this? |
| Co: | Yeah. |
| Ge: | I tried to reconstruct the intermix chamber from what I remember in school. Tell me if I got it right. |
| Co: | School? You learned about this in school? |
| Ge: | Oh yeah. Basic warp design is a required course at the academy. The first chapter is called Zefram Cochrane. |
| Co: | Well, looks like you got it right. |
| Reg: | Commander! This is what we're thinking of using to replace the damaged warp plasma conduit. |
| Ge: | Yeah, Reg. Yeah. That's good. But you need to reinforce this copper tubing with a nano-polymer. |
| Reg: | Docter Cochrane, I know this sounds silly, but can I shake your hand? Thank you, Doctor. I can't tell you what an honor it is to work with you on this project. I never imagined that I'd be meeting the man who invented warp drive. |
| Ge: | Reg! Reg! |
| Reg: | I'm sorry. Right. Thanks. |
| Co: | Do they have to keep doing that? |
| Ge: | It's just a little hero worship, Doc. Tell you the truth, I can't say I blame them. We all grew up hearing about what you did here, or what you're about to do. You know, I probably shouldn't even tell you this, but I went to Zefram Cochrane high school. |
| Co: | Really. |
| Ge: | You know, I wish I had a picture of this. |
| Co: | What? |
| Ge: | Well, you see, in the future this whole area becomes a historical monument. You're standing almost on the exact spot where your statue's gonna be. |
| Co: | Statue? |
| Ge: | Oh, yeah. It's marble, about 20 meters tall, and you're looking up at the sky, and your hand's sort of reaching toward the future. |
| Co: | I gotta take a leak. |
| Ge: | Leak? I'm not detecting any leak. |
| Co: | Don't you people from the 24th century ever pee? |
| Ge: | Oh. leak. I get it. That's pretty funny. |
| Co: | Excuse me. |
