フェレンギとの交渉
登場人物
Jean-Luc Picard: | エンタープライズD艦長 |
William T. Riker: | 副長(「副長」は英語でnumber oneだそうです) |
Data: | アンドロイド(科学主任で第二副長) |
Tasha Yar: | セキュリティー・チーフ |
Geordi La Forge: | 技術チーフ(「機関部長」とも。恋多き青年です^^;) |
DaiMon Tarr: | フェレンギ艦の艦長 |
P: | Captain's log, supplemental. In orbit of a mysterious planet whose unexplained force field has seized us with a power at almost beyond imagination. If there is a solution to this, it almost certainly we'll involve cooperation from the Ferengi. |
Ta: | Ship's power drain is critical, Captain. I must now shut down our shields to maintain life-support systems. |
P: | Understood. Open hailing frequencies. |
Ta: | Hailing frequencies open, sir. |
P: | Ferengi vessel from Enterprise, come in. |
Dai: | Your alien images again shock us. |
P: | With regard to the surrender, Daimon Tarr, the facts are somewhat different. |
Dai: | Our own probe has already shown us your trickery, human. We withdraw our surrender. |
P: | Agreed. Perhaps, you would agree to a more productive relationship. |
Dai: | I prefer a more profitable, human. |
Da: | Yankee trader. |
Dai: | Explain what means "Yankee traders." |
Ge: | He heard that. |
P: | He recognizes your interest in profits. Or is that an incorrect assumption? |
Dai: | We seek only what is equitable. What do you seek? Why did you begin by attacking us? |
P: | We did not attack you. We gave chase in order to recover a federation-owned energy device. We... |
Dai: | Which we know is ours. Your barbarous federation placed it on one of our planets. |
P: | On the contrary, Gamma Tauri M is recognized by all civilized members... |
Dai: | The Ferengi are not civilized one. Are you suggesting otherwise? |
P: | All I'm saying is that you removed something which clearly did not belong to you. |
Dai: | Are you now calling us thieves? |
P: | On the contrary, I have no wish to discuss issues of property or territory while our mutual problem remains. Like it or not, we are both trapped by this energy-draining force field from the planet. |
Dai: | On that matter, there can be no argument. |
P: | I would like to propose a swap. |
Dai: | And what is a "swap"? |
P: | It's a trade, ah, an exchange. |
Dai: | Yes, trade, human. What do you offer? |
P: | We will tell you what we know about the planet and in trade you will give us your information. |
Dai: | Ridiculous! How do we know you will not withhold information? |
P: | We must trust each other, Tarr. |
Dai: | Ha! Hahahahaha...Amusing, human. Trust each other? |
P: | I propose that's we test this relationship by cooperating in a joint exploration of the planet's surface. |
Dai: | And what profit is in this, Picard Captain? |
P: | The profit, Daimon Tarr, of saving all our lives. |
Dai: | We will agree no doubt foolishly, but you're warned that any further trickery on your part will be met with no mercy. |
P: | Agreed! if you care to join us, we have a well-proven transporter device.. |
Dai: | We have a matter-energy device of our own. We will beam a science team of three to whatever coordinates you propose. |
P: | Excellent. We will transmit the information shortly. Enterprise out. |
Ta: | Hailing frequencies off. |
P: | I would log that agreement as promissing, at least. |
R: | I wonder, Captain. I'm not usually one for distrust at first sight. This may be an exception. |
Da: | Especially in view of the fact, the image he transmitted was somehow distorted. |
De: | I sensed the same thing, Captain. He is hiding something. |
R: | With this power drain, we can't delay. Now I would like some additional help in case we run into trouble. Can you spare Worf? |
P: | Take him. And be careful, Number One. |
