Subject: [amsat-bb:79330] UFO on 435.355?

From: "Brian"
Hello
From 22:50 - 22:55UTC i heard a datasignal on 435.355
ending on 435.347, not a mode i heard before.
After checking amsat.org and my tracking software,
i still had no idea what it was.
Its not any of the new ones, like saudisat,unisat3 ect.
Does anyone have a clue?
Maybe one of the student cubesats?
Regards
Brian OZ1SKY

Hello Again.
Just heard it again around 21:55UTC
For most of the pass some data, and at the end short CW bursts.
I will try to see if i can copy the CW next time i hear it,
this time it was VERY weak.

Hello Again.
I belive i found the UFO.
Mozhayets-4 aka RS-22, nasa catalog nr 27939
Downlink 145.840 (not heard) and 435.352 FM/CW
Satellitenwelt writes:
When in range of "Moshaiski Militar-weltraum-akademie" in
Sankt Petersburg Russia (60N,30E) it will send data packets.
So it might not be on over other places, or may only send CW tlm?
A few soundclips and CW tlm at this url
http://home.arcor.de/satellitenwelt/afu.htm
Scroll all the way down, and its there.

It was RS-22 as Unisat 3 has been heard on 435.275 over Europe and
also it was nowhere near RS-22 at the time Brian reported reception.
Checking with Nova - RS-22 was within range of Brian using the
following keps...

Based on observations from Mineo san and Brian OZ1SKY, should the status
on RS-22 be changed to "semi-operational"? We list UO-11 in that way.
I don't know of any hard and fast rules, so that is why I am asking.

Hi Mineo,
Copied RS-22 on its 06:10 UTC pass over Western USA. Confirmed cw id of
RS-22 (without the usual HI HI). The telemetry was in the form of 5 to 7
character groups with about 10 seconds between each group.
The bird was to have a CW beacon at 145.840 MHz but a check indicated
nothing there.
The signal level was strong with Q5 copy throughout the pass.

I observed CW signals from RS-22(MOZHAYETS 4)
at UTC 12:37-12:51, Aug 9, 2004 as follows.
The received frequency was 435.3618-435.3428 MHz,
so I think the center frequency maybe 435.353 MHz.

Someone gave this RS-22 link out earlier...
http://www.dk3wn.info/sat/afu/sat_rs22.shtml
It has a Windows based decoder and the equations.
