How to run Windows applications on LINUX

I upgraded Ubuntu to Ver 1704. In addition, I could start Soundmodem
software with "Wine" running Windows software on LINUX + Ubuntu 1704.

The Soundmodem software could be launched, but it did not decode.
There seems to be some trickiness in the setting in Wine or GQRX.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install wine1.8 winetricks
$ winecfg

On LINUX_Ubuntu -> Search your computer
Wine -> Right Click -> Winetricks_Launch
Select the default wineprefix
Install a windows DLL or component -> Select Packages

Ubuntu -> Files -> (ex.)soundmodem.exe -> Right Click ->
Open With Other Application -> View All Applications ->
Select: A wine application

Hi Mineo!
Something wrong with the sound, I see a ragged spectrum on the waterfall.
Actually I have got positive reports that the soundmodem works well under
Wine, perhaps you need to fix some settings in the mixer or GQRX.
