'Islam' is broader term than European 'religion', controlling even people's daily lives through the scripture of Koran and Hadith. This is reflected in architecture, showing almost the same character on both mosques as religious architecture and caravanserais or palaces as secular architecture. In other words, 'Islamic architecture' embraces every genre of functions of buildings composed by repetitions and combinations of quite primary components such as arches, vaults, domes, iwans, muqarnas. Except for mosques, the classification of Islamic architecture contains house, palace, school, monastery, bathhouse, hospital, etc. Here I will show various aspects of Islamic building-types in sequence of function.  iMay 3, 2021j
