Tu:The attack lasted no more than a few seconds. But, it was highly
effective. I feel Commander Chakotay and I are fortunate to be alive.
Ja:What happened, Lieutenant?
Tu:We had completed our trade mission with the Elidarians and run a course
to the rendezvous point. When we encountered the dark matter nebula, as
we began the routine analysis, and an unidentified ship emerged and
attacked our shuttle.
Ja:Any idea why?
Tu:No. They would not respond to our hails. We were hit by energy
discharge which penetrated our shields and filled the cabin. Commander
Chakotay lost consciousness immediately and I was barely able to activate
autopilot before I was overcome as well.
Ja:And the alien ship?
Tu:The last image I saw was the ship flying back into the nebula. But,
the details are difficult to remember.
Do:Can you tell me anything about the energy discharge, its modulation
or phase distribution?
Tu:No. There was no time for detail analysis. However, the shuttle
sensors may have recorded information that could be helpful. I will
download the sensor logs.
Ja:Why would someone want to extract his bio-neuro energy?
Do:I don't know. But if I have any hope reviving him, I must know
precisely how his neuron was depleted. It would be of(?) great help
if I could examine the weapon.
Ja:We are going back to that nebula to try to find the ship that
attacked you. Janeway to Bridge, prepare to lie in a new course. Mr.
Tuvok will provide you with the coordinates.
?: Aye, Captain.
Ja:We'll keep you posted, Doctor.
-------------
Tu:The energy discharge overloaded the shuttle craft's central computer
core. All sensor's data have been erased.
Ja:Lieutenant Tores is in Sickbay now. I want you report and tell her go
over damaged sensor logs to find tube corm??? to see if she can
reconstruct any of the data.
Tu:Aye, Captain.
Ja:Well, this is going to make things little more difficult. I've been
using long range sensors to analyse the nebula you discovered. It's
sending out strong electro-magnetic radiation. We won't be able to scan
inside it. You know, it sounds to me like a perfect tiding place.
Tu:I agree.
Ja:I don't like the idea going in their blind. Let me see if I can
reconfigure the sensors to multi-phasic band lift(rift?).
Tu:Is there a problem?
Ja:I've lost all sensor contact with the nebula. I don't understand.
Wait a minute. We've altered the course. Mr. Paris?
Pa:Our new heading is 121 mark 6. It's completely come about, Captain.
But, it wasn't me.
Ja:Mr. Kim, check the navigation computer. Who ordered the course change?
Ki:According to my readings, the command was issued from the conn.
Pa:I'm telling you it wasn't me. And the helm control is working
perfectly. No signs of malfunction.
Ja:Ensign, transfer helm control to your station and reset our original
course.
Ki:Course laid in.
Ja:Mr. Paris, I want you to run a full diagnostic on the conn station.
See if you isolate a problem.
Pa:Aye, Captain.
