Welcome to my Web Page. The photo above is of Earth and typhoon 18th in '99. In Japan the naming of typhoon is not as in America. In America the hurricane are named as men and women, but in Japan the typhoons are called by the number that they born in the year. This photo is presented from the Meteorological  Agency of Japan. Though I said so I don't receive this photo from a member of that Agency. One of my friend carried this photo to my home. Of course this photo was taken by a meteorological satellite. Can you see a white point of cloud near the center of Earth in this photo ? It is typhoon. It is counterclock wise spiral of cloud. This typhoon gave big damages to South West parts of Japan. High waves broke shore protections and houses were drunk by sea water. And the more three tornados occurred in Aichi Prefecture. Tornados do not so frequently occur in Japan. It is sure that the North Pole is up and the South Pole is down because Japan is located in the northern hemisphere.

This summer in '99 was very hot summer in Japan. TV program told us that the reason of hotness in '99 is the La Nina. La Nina is the rise of the sea water tempreture around Indonesia.  And from May to June I saw cabbage butterflies a little this year. And apricot rainy season in Japan this year was a little cold. But after then I saw many swallowtail butterflies. The number of them is more than usual year. In Japan July and August and added them September were very hot months.

The photo above is of a large brown cicada (Graptopsaltria nigrofuscata) perching on a telephone pole.. We can see them during summer in Japan and they are very familiar ones. Their cry is very loud so we can notice soon that they are near us. When we hear their cry during hot summer we feel it is hotter than when they don't cry.

Usually we have typhoons during from the middle of August to the September. We have many large typhoons this year '99 but we have very little typhoons last year '98. As it was so whitening of coral reefs in Okinawa happened. I hear on TV that the whitening of coral reefs were seen all over sea that year.

Any way it was very hot summer '99 in Japan. And lingering summer heat was so hard so the average temperature of September  were the highest in many parts in Japan. But even if it is so hot fall we ca see Japanese rice has ripening in rice field. The photo below is one of them. Though it is very narrow field rice plant had much rice.

Whenever rice bears we have festival. It is for thanking to the Sun of giving good ripening. The fairs in fall are done all over in Japan in this season.

Do you know what this is? This is Mikoshi and very Japanese style one. Many men and women march with Mikoshi on their shoulder chanting to keep time. Mikoshi is very heavy. So there are Mikoshies for men, for women and for children.

Then it is all by now. See you next time good bye!
