Welcome! I want to write here about the summer weather of Japan in 2002. But please enjoy the photos of butterflies too. The first photo is Swallowtail Butterfly taken in my garden. When my mother watered the garden of my house two swallowtail butterflies stopped on the leaves.
This photo is the other one. The first one is damaged on the left wing a little. Though the second one has perfect wings, it closed it's wings.
By the way my expectation of summer weather this year was so unsuccessful. I expected the rainy season in Japan this year would be hot and this was true. Though I expected the summer season in Japan this year would be no so hot, but it was so hot summer. The reason why my expectation failed is not clear but it is true that it was very difficult to expect the weather this year. Because the number of butterflies changed during I observed them.
For example I write the date I saw butterflies and the number of them below.
24 th March: Kamakura swallowtail butterfly 1.
31 st March: Cabbage butterfly 3.
7 th April: Cabbage butterfly 1 and Black swallowtail butterfly 1.
17 th April: Aosuji swallowtail butterfly 1.
19 th April: Cabbage butterfly 3 and Kamakura swallowtail butterfly 5.
23 rd April: Kamakura swallowtail butterfly 2.
24 th April: Kamakura swallowtail butterfly 2.
27 th April: Cabbage butterfly 1.
28 th April: Cabbage butterfly 3 and Black swallowtail butterfly 3.
29 th April: Cabbage butterfly 4 and Swallowtail butterfly 3.
1 st May: Black swallowtail butterfly 1 and Kamakura swallowtail butterfly 2
and Cabbage butterfly 4.
3 rd May: Kamakura swallowtail butterfly 1.
4 th May: Kamakura swallowtail butterfly 2.
5 th May: Aosuji swallowtail butterfly 1 and Black swallowtail butterfly 1

12 nd May: Black swallowtail butterfly 1 and Aosuji swallowtail butterfly 1 and

I expected from the result of my observation above, this rainy season in Japan would be hot and little rain. Though it was hot rainy season but we had two typhoons during the season, so we had much rain.
When it became June the number of butterflies changed. The number of swallowtail butterflies decreased and the number of cabbage butterflies increased. The ratio between Swallowtail butterflies and Cabbage butterflies became to 1:4. So I expected it would not be hot summer this year in Japan. But it is so far from real temperature after then. Though the Meteorological Agency expected the summer this year in Japan will be cool because of El Nino and after the changed it to be usual summer, it was not right. But my expectation was more unsuccessful than it.
At the beginning of July the ratio of the number Cabbage butterfly and Swallowtail butterfly has became to 1:1. But I had not changed my expectation.
Any way it was very difficult year to expect the summer weather because the number of butterflies changed very much.
And as an addition the last I will show one Black Swallowtail Butterfly. It is very old butterfly, so it's wings are ragged and the color of them is faded but the butterfly had lived it's short life for one summer. It was so great that so old butterfly could fly by itself.
I want to write at the last of this page that the number of butterflies above is not the standard in everywhere nor the average number of every year in my place. There are much difference of standard number of butterflies in each area. So the number of butterflies above is only the standard for me. The life stile and the environmental condition of nature are different from my place, so the number of butterflies that you see in your place is different from mine. Please find out the standard number in your place and in your life stile. If you do so for several years, you may be able to expect weather in your place or country.
