Subject: Earthquake and Tsunami
Dear Colleagues in Japan,
We all here are horrified at the damage caused by the Sendai
earthquake and tsunami, and are very concerned for your safety.
We send our deep condolences to all of you in the WHS of Japan,
and hope that the renowned resilience and fortitude of the Japanese
people will soon repair the worst of the damage.
We in Europe will do all we can to provide help and support in your hour
of need; experienced rescue teams, just returned from New Zealand, are
on their way to provide assistance.
With deep respect and sadness,
Brian Robertson, on behalf of the Willam Herschel Society.

会員の皆さんの無事を確認できていない状況ですが、取り急ぎ管理人から個人的に以下のお返事をお送りしましたので、併せてお知らせいたします。
(この掲示板やメールで)皆さまの近況等お知らせいただければ幸いに存じます。
Dear Brian,
Thank you so much for your expression of sympathy for the disaster.
Fortunately most members of the HSJ, who live outside the severely stricken
area, are safe. Of course, Mr Kimura in Tokyo and Sadaharu in Tsukuba,
Ibaraki are all right, the lifelines and traffic were partially damaged
though. But we are more anxious about victims in the Tohoku district. Please
pray for them with us. We are greatly encouraged by rescue teams from all
over the world. Indeed the damage is immense, but we are sure to revive
soon, or rather, we MUST revive.
Many thanks again for your thougtfulness.
Please pass our best wishes to all of the WHS.
Sincerely,
Tamao TSUNODA
