The botanical name is pandanus latifolia. It smell offenceive. However,
this intense smell resembles the smell of boiled ricee. There is special rice dish named Kaha - bath , yellow rice.They cook Kaha -bath with turmeric , karapincha , rampe, It is strange to say but rampe can reduce the nasty smel of parboiled rice. ![]() It is indispensable also to the stew dish of fish and seeni sambol. Rampe itself is not good smell but when it is cooked with fish or hard fish (umbarakada), it can stimulate our appetite. |
