Souvenir from England

Makeup Bags

I bought this makeup bag for my mother at Liberty.
I like this pattern best so far.
I bought a blue one for myself, but it has already worn out, so I have thrown it away althought I wanted to keep it.
They seemed to be sold in limited editions in specific time periods, as I've never seen these patterns since.

Since the first time I visited England, I've always bought Liberty's makeup bags for souvenirs.
If time is available, I go to Picadilly Circus on the day I arrive at London. At first, I go to Fortnum & Mason and Mitsukoshi department store. Next, I go to Liberty in Regent Street if it is open. Even if I don't buy anything, I want to visit because Liberty department store's building is very old and full of character. The atmosphere is good.
Firstly, I go to the ground floor where they sell makeup bags. However, you should go to tax free shops such as Mitsukoshi before visiting Liberty to know how much these makeup bags cost. I'm not sure about the tax free range, but I think that you can ask for your tax back if you spend seventy five pounds or more. Therefore, you should buy at least ten makeup bags because they probably cost about seven or eight pounds each. I usually buy four or five, so it usually is cheper to buy them at Mitsukoshi if you don't buy other expenxive goods such as scarves. Moreover, I don't know why, but sometimes Liberty in Regent Street didn't sell the patterns which I have found at Mitsukoshi. Or you may wait to buy them until you come back to Japan. Everything is tax-exempt at the Liberty shop in Heathrow Airport even if you buy only one. Sometimes you'll find some patterns which you didn't seen at Libery in Regent Street. However, of course, the goods in Heathrow Airport are restricted. I sometimes regretted, "Ah, I should have bought them in Picaddily."
Thus, I always think it over before buying them even though they are just makeup bag!
Makeup bags are very convenient to carry many things in an organized fashion. When I see them, I often buy them even if it isn't necessary at that moment because I think that I'll use them in the near future. As you know if you see other pages about souvenirs, my souvenirs are quite often heavy. Probably makeup bags are the lightest things. Moreover, many people seem to be happy when I give them.
Makeup bags are consumables. I have thrown away many makeup bags away. Now the makeup bags I have are shown below.

I usually buy Liberty's makeup bags for my cousin, Atsuko, so our makeup bags are sometimes the same.
left and the middle : Liberty's makeup bags. Every year, I bought them, so I have some in stock.
The middle in the first and the second line are different coloour ones from the same range and design. The pink one is my mother's and blue one is mine.
The upper right are makeup bags which I bought at Mon Soon Home in the King's Road. They are thin and transparent, so their usage is limited.
However, I like both their colour and pattern. After thinking it over, I finally bought them.
the lower right : I bought it at a shop in Oxford University. When I see makeup bags, I often want to buy them even though they are not Liberty's.
