English Food is Tasty!

Yoko's Diary : I'm a glutton!

England in 2006-1

On my 16 th Trip to England, I traveled alone as I had done the previous year. I didn't have enough money to travel around. Moreover, one pound almost equaled to 216 yen ; the pound was strong! Therefore, I decided to have takeaway supper because it was cheaper. However, I always chose what I thought to be tasty. It is sometimes good to have such kind of food, isn't it?

At Narita airport
As well as the previous year, I had a soup set for breakfast at Soup Stock in the airport.

In the plane
In the airplane, I had 1) a snack and a glass of tomato juice, 2) lunch, 3) ice lollie, 4) onigiri ; a rice ball and drink, and 5) supper. I had almost the same food as the previous year, because I used the same air company ; Virgin Atlantic.

takeaway piza in Notting Hill
I wanted to have an Indian takeaway from the same restaurant as I had had the previous year, but it was closed. Although I saw some people inside. Therefore, I bought some pizas at a shop near the Indian restaurant (£2.30). For desert, I had some cherries which I had bought at Marks & Spencer near Notting Hill station, plus a "Tokyo Banana" which I had bought at Narita.

At a cafe in Piccadilly Circus and a Marks & Spencerfs trifle
I wanted to use the Internet, so I went to the cafe near Mitsukoshi in Piccadilly Circus. I ordered a mix-berry tart and an ice tea(£4.35). I liked this tart. After that, I went back to my B&B and ate a trifle which I had bought at Marks & Spencer. I had too many sweets, didnft I? Ha ha ha.

Fish and chips which I took away at a shop in Victoria
This set of fish and chips cost £4.99. I thought that a takeaway was a substantial saving. I had some strawberries for dessert.

At my B&B in Victoria
It was the first English breakfast in the B&B in Victoria ; sunny-side-up, beans, a sausage and a slice of bacon. Every day, they served the same menu, but I could have cereal, milk, and juice. The proprietor served a hot breakfast which she had just cooked. Therefore, it was tasty and I enjoyed it.

In the train to Stevenage
I had a vegetable Cornish Pastry which I had bought in a shop in Victoria station. It cost £3.20 with a small bottle of water.

At a cafe in Knebworth House and a cafe in Piccadilly Circus
After seeing Knebworth House, I had a piece of lemon cake and a cup of tea. I relaxed. It cost £3.80.
After coming back to London, Kingfs Cross, I went to Piccadilly Circus to use the Internet. Then, I ate the same berry tart and an ice tea in the same cafe. It cost £4..35.

I bought an Indian takeaway at an restaurant near Pimlico station.
I began to want to eat Indian food, so I decided to go to the restaurant which I had entered when I had stayed in a B&B near Pimlico. I ordered a vegetable curry, tandoori chicken, and a nan. It cost £7.60.
It was the very time which England was playing football in the Soccer World Cup, so there were a few people on the road. I sometimes heard great cheers all over the place. I realized that English people loved soccer very very much.@
