Darkness.... |

It was night in Cordor, the
moon shining down on the cobblestone streets as torches dimly lit
the roads for the adventurers of the night. Some had gone to their
homes or hotels to sleep, others slept in the streets, and still
others continued with whatever business they had: slaying monsters,
searching for treasure, or doing their job.
Not all areas were lit, however, such as the alleyway behind the
temple of Cordor. There, on the cold pavement lay a black skinned
man, most likely a drow elf. His body was curled up near the corner
he rested to keep the cold wind from freezing his body stiff,
seeming to not have a blanket or other clothes to keep him warm.
The elf was a sorry sight to see, as if he had given up everything
for nothing. One who saw him might even pity the man. His armor was
rather ragged, and his hood torn in areas, allowing wisps of dark
grey hair flow through the rips of the fabric. Beside him lay his
twin swords and a complicated-looking shortbow, the only items that
actually looked like they were of some value.
The two swords were colored different, one with a black hilt and
handle with a pearl embedded into the hitl, and the other white with
an onyx in the same place. The two symbolized his neutrality,
something that was not common for drows, if this elf even was one.
As he slept, small beads of sweat trickled down his shadowed face,
his gloved hands clenching every now and then. His small grunts were
barely audible. If someone walked by, they would not have noticed
these small spasms made unconsciously by the suffering drow.
No one would ever know what that nightmare he had every night of his
life was, that he had to relive his past every night and wanted to
die when he woke up. No one would ever know that this dark-skinned
elf was, in fact, not a true drow. No one would know that this man
was a halbreed, and no one would ever know his true name.....
The Shadow would continue to exist until someoen of the Light came
and ended his suffering, once and for all.....
((If you could comment on this, I would appreciate it. I want to see
if there is anything I could do to improve this storyline))

Um....heheheh....my character
has nothing to do with my screen name. Sorry if that gave you the
idea. The Shadow has no demon or wolf blood in him, just drow and
sylvan.

Well that's just my quirk
then*
As far as your storyline, that's set a hook in me so I can't wait to
find out more about that private nightmare and how someone from the
Light can end all The Shadow's suffering...
Oh, and both name's are cool.
Just the
way they overlap without completly matching created in me some
anticipation ...
====================
* This is OOC or maybe meta-rp, but having undergone that screen
name/character creation proccess several times, I've found it's
always a screen name's first character that has the most intimate
relationship to whatever sparked that choice of screen name. Then as
time goes on each developes separate, although of necessity
interrelated rp personalities, on the character and player levels of
reality respectively, of course. I think to be able to peer deeply
enough into those "shadows" to fully understand would be to know the
nature of the creative process more completely than even muses are
entitled to do.
Well, sorry for the rant or whatever it was... Hee, hee.

Thank you very much.
And if you truly wish to know how to help Shadow out, just talk to
him in the game and RP with him a bit. He's quiet and doesn't trust
others easily, so people have to work to get him to open up to them.

shadows . . . |

In the shadows behind Cordor
Temple,
Pearl
(Moved to DM forum see below*) prodded the sleeping drow
delicately with the toe of her boot, whispering softly, "Ni hao ma?"
There was no response, so bending down for a closer inspection and
thinking to herself, "Ta zhen shi hen hao kan de ren," then actually
blushing with embarassment at being influenced by how cute the guy
looked under his ragged armor, tattered vestments and despite a face
somewhat scarred and smuged by a life of rugged adventuring, Pearl
shook her head sharply to clear even the thoughts in that language
she must strictly remind herself not to use here.
"If I were a different sort of rogue," she thought in Amian now,
"I'd relieve the poor guy of his pitiful stock of weapons, or at the
very least pry that pearl from the black-hilted sword as a fitting
tribute to my name." She smiled grimly at the pun. "He seems to be
having an unsettling dream," she thought, noting his slight gestures
of painfully restless sleep. "I wonder what dark secrets cloud his
soul?"
As Pearl faded into the deeper shadows, she also wondered whether
she'd ever find such an adventurer to share secrets and plans with.
Most she met, although possesing far more opulent equipment, seemed
driven by a lust to rush heedlessly hither and yon blustering and
blundering about without taking time to discuss strategy or tactics.
"Could it be that such a man as that drow back there in the shadows
might have the wit and patience to be a partner for me?" With this
last thought, Pearl paused then turned back and, pulling the
tinderbox she always carried for quick starting campfires from her
well-stocked backpack, struck flame to a torch in a sconce just
above and slightly to the right of the man slumbering in the
shadows, hoping that the greater illumination would allow her a
better reading of the half-drow's character by the lines his
expeciences had inscribed on his face. As the first flickers waxed
into a blaze; however, the sudden brightness proved the final
stimulus needed to send his soul across dreamland's threshold, and
Pearl, noticing the first trembling of his eyelids quickly backed
away towards the deeper shadows. Not quickly enough, she could see
already to escape an awakened hunter's alert awareness, so she
turned to give the impression of one one walking away, then, when
she knew he could no longer see her, turned again and crept
cautiously using her rouge skills at concealment back to a vantage
point from which she studied and considered his actions.

The dark-skinned man slowly
opened his eyes, lids fluttering as they strained to take in the
bright light of a nearby torch. He had felt something poking him in
the stomach, with what, he did not know. With a fleeting glance, he
noticed someone walking back into the shadows, a female, from the
way the person moved. Who she was, he had no idea, but something
told him that the woman shared the same kind of honor that he,
himself had, for his belongings still remained near him.
The sylvan drow slowly sat up, tilting his head to one side then the
next to crack his neck. Before standing, he stretched out his
cramped arms and back, then stood up, picking up his belongings and
placing them in their respective places. Reaching into one of his
pockets, he withdrew a small razor and placed it on his arm, drawing
it slightly across his arm to add to the large scar already there.
This marking was his reminder not to trust others without reason,
for he had been betrayed all too often.
Putting away the razor, he withdrew yet another item from his
pockets: a small piece of paper that had browned and wrinkled with
time. Written on it were both words in elven and drow, combining the
two languages in one to tell him a message form his parents. Below
it, however, is another message, written in his own blood: Keep what
you kill.
The dark elf closed his eyes and grinned behind his mask, placing
the note back into the pocket with his other random items, then
looked to the sky. The moon was bright that night......it was a
perfect time to go hunting.

the shadows to plan a hunt... |

With an amused half smile on
her lips, Pearl watched the still-reclining figure take a quick
inventory of his untouched possessions then peer thoughtfully again
into the deep shadows where he must have seen her now invisible form
disappear from sight. Pearl knew what must be passing through his
mind, would in fact be passing through any adventurer's mind at that
moment, "She had me totally at her mercy, could have stripped me
naked, taken everything I own, even have ended my miserable
exiistence, and yet . . ."
"Surely, I've inadvertently made a good impression on this man, much
better than if we'd spent half an hour at the Nomad fencing and
sparring through the usual verbal swordplay, jokes, and annecdotes
concealing as much as revealing our intentions." Pearl thought. "He
knows that whoever was just here bears him no ill will, and that's
the best letter of introduction anyone could ask for." Just as she
was about to step forward and claim the benefits though, the sylvan
drow sat up, so she paused to allow him time to get his meager
campsite in order for visitors first.
Her smile became a grimace of sympathy as he stretched his body free
of the obvious discomforts sleeping on these cold stones had
stiffened into it and stowed everything away. She nodded in approval
of his organizational sense, then wondered at his next rather
brizarre action of slicing his own arm. As he glanced over some
memo, Pearl thought, "Perhaps he's inscribes the pain from his
dreams that's too unbearable to keep on such parchment on his very
skin, or perhaps this is some religious ritual... I wonder if I'll
ever discover the truth behind that strange action?"
Taking a deep breath and putting her mental house in order, Pearl
stepped forward into the light just as he finised putting the memo
in his pocket and glanced skywards, "Nice night for hunting, isn't
it? That's a real huntrer's moon." She said.
The half-drow man looked quickly down and fixed her with his gaze,
but didn't seem overly surprised to see her. Without answering, he
nodded and smiled, so Pearl continued, "Of course you know that I'm
the one who was standing over you just before you awakened, so,
unless you lack the wit to be the partner in adventure I'm seeking,
you must realize that I mean you no harm."
Again the drow nodded silently for Pearl to continue, so she quickly
made her point. "It's obvious that you need to hunt to replenish
your funds at least. No shame in that. I do too; but I'm a bit
better equipped than you, obviously. Look." She oppens the copious
knapsack, laying out her extensive selection of powerful traps.
"Here's what I have to bring to our partnership in addition to means
of transportation to a profitable location and a well-thought-out
and sucessfully-tested strategy, so what do you say...?" Pearl
asked, and paused to give him time to consider his reply... |

The dark skinned elf looked
down at the traps before him, each very powerful in its making,
possibly made by the woman herself. However, there were no traps
that he, himself, had not been able to make. He turned and walked
over to the corner in which he had slept, then lifted up a stone
slab. Underneath was a dug-out hole that he himself had made, a
small hiding place that only he knew about....until now. He would
have to make a new one, since he had shown this woman this certain
spot.
Lifting a large bag from the hole, he removed his own traps, each as
strong as the girl's, and each was made by him or retrieved from
dungeons he had been to. Also inside of this bag was all of his
valuables, including his real armor and weapons. However, he was
still not as well equipped as the woman....
Bending down, he took one of his own traps and compared it to the
woman's, inspecting the triggers and mechanisms that made these kits
tick. One trap, however, he did not have, and this one intrigued
him: a holy trap.
Looking up from his crouched position, he gazed into the woman's
eyes and nodded quietly.
"......you have yourself a partner.....however, I do not give my
trust so easily.....you will have to earn it, as I will earn
yours......"
The hooded elf stood to his full height, obviously a bit shorter
than the woman. However, he did not allow their height difference
intimidate him, his red eyes gazing up at the woman, his hand
extended to offer a handshake to make their verbal contract.

What a prophet of trials and tribulations this still-unnamed drow
hunter turns out to be! Names even more than trust, it further
developes, are particularly elusive in the dialogues that bear the
brunt of telling most of the following melodrama:
(Pearl awaits her promised hunting partner, with more than a
little romantic expectation in her heart, then, after a very long
time has passed.)
Pearl Dragon: *Whisper's to herself, "Here I am all alone on this
roof waiting for a guy... Now this is just too typical, isn't it?
All around the world I wonder how many other girls are in my
shoes? I mean this has to be a fundamental part of the human
condition..." but her whisper is overheard by a passing stranger.*
Jerrid Tremayne: ...Huh? Oi, woman.
Pearl Dragon: Hello.. man.
Jerrid Tremayne: What are you doing up here?
Pearl Dragon: I'm just waiting...*for a late date, she doesn't
add*
Pearl Dragon: How about you..What brings you to this usually
lonely rooftop...?
Jerrid Tremayne: Simply, I came up here because I was curious.
Pearl Dragon: Oh. Wel,l you do know what they say about
curiosity... *Starts in surprise* (A winged form briefly appears
and vanishes.) What was that?
Jerrid Tremayne: I can't say that I do.
Pearl Dragon: Hmm... *Wonders at his lack of wisdom.. not to
mention ignoring that strange form..* I heard old wives' tales
from my earliest days... All agree.. There's danger in too much
curiosity..
Jerrid Tremayne: Danger doesn't bother me.
Pearl Dragon: Ah... *absolutely certain now she's dealing with a
fool* Well, then, I'm sure you have more dangerous places to
visit. It's usually quite safe up here.. I'll be waiting here for
my late escort, so...
Jerrid Tremayne: Well, I'd feel bad abandoning a woman, especially
in such a dangerous moment.
Pearl Dragon: "Dangerous moment" did you say, sir? *All ears now*
Would you care to explain further?
Jerrid Tremayne: Mm. As far as it's known, it's a possibility that
the town will be under attack.
Pearl Dragon: Ahh... I see.. : Is there any defense being
organized?
Jerrid Tremayne: None that I am aware. I was going to take a quick
trip to Khol to prepare, in case.
Pearl Dragon: I've never been to "Khol..." so I believe I'm still
better off here where I know the ground well.. Of course, if some
defense gets underway, I'll report to the headquarters for
assingment, but meanwhile... ... I'll continue my private
business.. if you have no objection..
Jerrid Tremayne: I'd feel better if you remained here, really. One
less face for me to worry about if things do get bloody.
Pearl Dragon: *"Only face?" Pearl wonders.* Yes.. Actually, I had
intended doing just that.. As I explained, an associate is
expeceted soon.
Jerrid Tremayne: Mm... of course. Sorry to bother you. Either way,
take care, miss...
Pearl Dragon: You, too. Good luck in your enterprise, sir. **
Goodbye ** (The area is magically obscured by darkness as he
disappeares.) *'Or not - if it's this dark," she thinks,* "Hmm...
wonder where he's got to?"
(Pearl waits patiently for several hours, and then...)
Jerrid Tremayne: Still waiting? *raises a brow*
Pearl Dragon: Sorry. I was, uh, wool gathering, my mind was far
away..
Jerrid Tremayne: *nods, wearing a look as if she were crazy*
Pearl Dragon: Any change in the tactical situation, sir?
Jerrid Tremayne: I don't think anything is going to happen,
really.
Pearl Dragon: *Ashamed of daydreaming at such a critical time* Oh,
that's *disappointingly* nice.
Jerrid Tremayne: Why are you still up here? Did your 'associate'
never come?
Pearl Dragon: Mmm.. Actually, that's what I was "daydreaming"
about.... can't understand it.. Thought he'd be more reliable..
Jerrid Tremayne: Ah, it always seems that way.
Pearl Dragon: But we put considerable time and effort into our
plans... oh, well,.. I'd better find something else to do.
Jerrid Tremayne: I could wait with you, if you'd like to wait just
a bit longer. The word of attack put Cordor into quite a stir, so
maybe he's just having trouble getting here.
Pearl Dragon: That could be it..I suppose I'll probably find out
later.. How was your trip to "Kohl...." sir?
Jerrid Tremayne: *nods* I got what I went there for, anyway.
Pearl Dragon: Good. I'm glad someone had some success today.. I'd
prepared to go hunting trolls, but now..
Jerrid Tremayne: Ah, it's so depressing, seeing a woman sad.
Pearl Dragon: I guess I'll have to seek out another partner.. Not
a man like you, who's unafraid of danger, though.. I need a
cautious type.. Someone who's very careful and good at following
well-laid plans.
Jerrid Tremayne: I never said I wasn't cautious. I just said that
danger doesn't worry me.
Pearl Dragon: Hmm... Doesn't worry you...? Why not? Death is
fairly inconvenient for most of us.
Jerrid Tremayne: I can handle most of what's thrown to me. Doesn't
mean I try to run towards it though.
Pearl Dragon: Well, I need someone to back me up in the particular
stategy I have in mind.. It might be a bit boring to a man like
you..
Jerrid Tremayne: Perhaps, or are you just trying to avoid me?
*smirks*
Pearl Dragon: Not at all, sir, I never "avoid" handsome guys like
you... The general outlne involves laying traps..
Jerrid Tremayne: You mean traps like these? *pats a box at his
side* I don't have the most, but I certainly carry the best.
Pearl Dragon: *Looks with interest at his traps* Could you tell me
a bit more about those traps & how you use them?
Jerrid Tremayne: I make the traps I use, as well.
Pearl Dragon: Hmm.. Well I find that... My ability to use and my
abilty to craft traps are closely related... so too strong a trap
could be difficult for me to handle.. Against trolls I use a trap
like this.. Have a look and please give me your opinion?
Jerrid Tremayne: Well, from here, I can tell quite simply that the
quartz you're using isn't enough.Maybe when you're better handled,
you could use ones like this.
Pearl Dragon: Yes. I see Quite beyond my current ability to set..
You must be very good at traps, sir..
Jerrid Tremayne: Mm. Very few better.
Pearl Dragon: What do you think of mine aganist the trolls of the
lower foothills around Mystra's Grove?
Jerrid Tremayne: Since they tend to stay close together, they're
quite well suited. Although some of them are a bit more complex,
I'd suggest using what you are now.
Pearl Dragon: I'm quite interested in perfecting my stategic and
tactical skills with my traps against mountain trolls.. so your
advice is quite helpful.. Can you demonstate as well?
Jerrid Tremayne: I suppose so.
Pearl Dragon: Well then... (She ports to Skull Crags: Foothills.)
Pearl Dragon: Dammit .. something made me visible to them, and now
they're using me as bait..
(Although Pearl thought she was well concealed, the trolls spotted
her, reduced her energy to nearly the point of death, waited, then
killed her the moment he arrived.)
Jerrid Tremayne: Ah well.. Suppose I'll go sneak a scroll off of
old man Haust. Stay put... not that you could go anywhere.
(Soon, he resurrects her.)
Jerrid Tremayne: Well, then.
Pearl Dragon: Thanks. *Confused about the proper etiquette in such
cases*
Jerrid Tremayne: Let's be a bit more careful, shall we?
Pearl Dragon: Sorry.. something caused me to become visible to
them.. Not sure why?
Jerrid Tremayne: Don't worry about it.
Pearl Dragon: Well, don't want it to happen again.
(There follows a bit of hand-to-claw combat in which she receives
near-fatal wounds by refusing to hide behind him.)
Jerrid Tremayne: Quite a fragile flower, hm?
Pearl Dragon: Well, I'd planned to be invisible and use traps..
not weapons. Something went wrong, and now I want to analyse the
problem.
Pearl Dragon: Why did the trolls see me?
(He ignores her request.)
Jerrid Tremayne: I'll set this and lure.
Pearl Dragon: Are you flagging your tarps, sir? By the way, we
never in... Ah... (... and they never do introduce themselves
formally, so Pearl misses his name.)
Jerrid Tremayne: Step back if you will.
Pearl Dragon: So I can't see your ta ...
(Frustratingly, he keeps ignoring her questions.)
Pearl Dragon: Ooooh, MEN!
(He leads the trolls back with little appearant tactical thought
of their relative positions.)
Pearl Dragon: *Notices it was her back-up trap that got the troll*
Good work, sir!
Jerrid Tremayne: I'm more used to setting the traps right in the
enemy's lines, myself.
Pearl Dragon: I see. Anyway, we got one. ** Cheer ** Thanks, sir.
(Again Pearl has sustained heavy wounds in close-quarter combat.)
Jerrid Tremayne: One of five. Mm, said before, said again... quite
a fragile flower.
Pearl Dragon: Well, I have only four seasons here. How much
stronger could I be with that much training?
Jerrid Tremayne: Quite a bit I assume.
Pearl Dragon: Do you have any suggestion then?
Jerrid Tremayne: Other than remain pretty? Remain alive.
Pearl Dragon: Well, I hope to do both... *Smiles*
Jerrid Tremayne: I'm sure you will.
Pearl Dragon: Now about flagging.. : is that necessary for other
party members to see?
Jerrid Tremayne: *shakes his head* They should be able to spot it
without you needing to uncover it.
Pearl Dragon: Can you see this now?
Jerrid Tremayne: Yes, I can see all four.
Pearl Dragon: Then how is this different, & why flag traps?
Jerrid Tremayne: Ah well...
Pearl Dragon: I have MUCH to learn.. Please teach me..
Jerrid Tremayne: There are traps set by enemies, yes?
Pearl Dragon: Yes.
Jerrid Tremayne: Flagging their traps will ensure that your other
members don't touch them. Or rather, they'll know about it before.
Pearl Dragon: Ah.. Then flagging these makes them visible to
enemies? Or is it just irrelevant?
Jerrid Tremayne: It's just irrelevant. It will make it visible to
neutral parties, though. So some wandering merchant, for example
say, won't step on them.
(Pearl senses that her partner has arrived somewhere in Cordor.)
Pearl Dragon: Oh, my friend may come soon...The one I was waiting
for on the rooftop.. You were right it seems..
Jerrid Tremayne: Is that so? Is he as handsome as I am? *smirks*
Pearl Dragon: That's a topic I can't get into at this time..
*Smiles*
Jerrid Tremayne: Of course, of course.
Pearl Dragon: Diplomacy in all things is a good policy, right?
Jerrid Tremayne: *nods* I suppose you should recover your traps
then?
Pearl Dragon: Well, are they are flagged for him?
Jerrid Tremayne: Oh, so he is coming here?
Pearl Dragon: I'm still not sure. I understood the flagging
purpose.. Only works on enemy traps?
Jerrid Tremayne: Mm.
Pearl Dragon: He'll see these if he's an ally, right?
Jerrid Tremayne: He should.
Pearl Dragon: Good.
Jerrid Tremayne: What is your name, miss?
Pearl Dragon: Oh, sorry, sir. I'm Pearl.. Pearl Dragon..
*Embarrassed at her gaffe*
Jerrid Tremayne: Pearl... that's a rather nice name.
Pearl Dragon: *BLUSH* Thanks.. Just a translation from my native
tongue.. My family name means Dragon and my given name is Pearl,
see?
Jerrid Tremayne: Native tongue? *peeks his ears, interested*
Pearl Dragon: *Now very confused at her embarrassment-caused slip*
um.. err.. Look! ** Looks Far ** What's that?
Jerrid Tremayne: That would be a cliff.
Pearl Dragon: I thought I saw something on the cliff.. *Twiddles
thumbs* Where IS my friend anyway?
Jerrid Tremayne: Hm. Maybe he died?
Pearl Dragon: How sad! Don't say things like that.. *Shiver*
Jerrid Tremayne: *looks to the rain* Ah lovely. I thought it
wouldn't get any colder.
Pearl Dragon: Rain? Ah, darn.. What's that gonna do to my traps..
Should I put them away before they get ruined?
Jerrid Tremayne: Hm, it shouldn't matter.
(Her partner appears near them.)
Pearl Dragon: Here's my friend, The... (shadow) (Again, by some
ill-omened oversight their names are never exchanged.)
The Shadow: ............... *nods slightly*
Jerrid Tremayne: I see. Well, I've done my duty then.
Pearl Dragon: Hi, this kind gentleman has been giving me some
trapping advice..
The Shadow: I see......
Pearl Dragon: We have some set up already, but I think we should
plan a bit more and rearrange the layout..
Pearl Dragon: Thanks, sir for you kindness.. and..
Jerrid Tremayne: *nods*
Pearl Dragon: Sorry to waste so much of your time on something
trivial to you..
The Shadow: ..........
Pearl Dragon: But it's been instructive to me..
Jerrid Tremayne: *waves his hand dismissingly* I got to see a
creature quite beautiful, nothing wasted here.
Pearl Dragon: *Blushes* Thanks for the frattery.. I'm nothing
special.
The Shadow: ......you are too humble......
Jerrid Tremayne: *chuckles* It's like a woman to be modest. So
long for now.
Pearl Dragon: I'm sure I'll see you again someday if I ever get to
"Kohl..." ** Laugh ** *Thinks, "never heard the city's full name"*
Jerrid Tremayne: Ah, I'm in Cordor mostly... (He vanishes.)
Pearl Dragon: So, see these traps.?
The Shadow: .....aye.
Pearl Dragon: Three left now. They are strong electric ones.. What
do you have?
The Shadow: ........none with me at the moment.......I sold them
to a stronger thief.
Pearl Dragon: I'm sorry, but you mentioned a "holy trap"? That was
a misunderstanding of some sort.
The Shadow: *shrugs* I meant those......
Pearl Dragon: I only have electric and negative.. Can you set
them? Let me give you a couple.
The Shadow: *nods*
Pearl Dragon: Here. Take these. ok?
The Shadow: .......very well.
Pearl Dragon: Wait a sec.. Listen to my plan and say what you
think..
The Shadow: ........what? Very well......
Pearl Dragon: You go sneak and set a couple more traps in advance
of these.. Careful not to let any trolls see you until the traps
are set
The Shadow: ..........hmmm..........very well.
Pearl Dragon: If they should start to chase you, run quickly
across the traps to this side. Keep the traps as directly between
you and the trolls as possible..
The Shadow: ........then I will be off......
Pearl Dragon: After the traps are set, we'll talk a bit more
before luring them ok? .
(The Shadow kills himself with one of his own traps.)
Pearl Dragon: Hmm.. Should have talked a bit more first.. That was
mistake..
(He resurrects himself.)
Pearl Dragon: Sorry.. Trapping is not easy.. I've done that same
mistake, too, but electrical traps are still best... (sigh) Just
dangerous
The Shadow: .....seems someone has already taken our kills......
.....retrieve the traps.....we will move ahead.....
Pearl Dragon: You wait behind the traps ok? You have a ranged
weapon?
The Shadow: ......aye.

Pearl Dragon: Hey The exit is that way.
The Shadow: .....I see......
Pearl Dragon: Damn.. Bad luck Too much trafic today.. ** Laugh **

Elvewyn Ferenthil: traps?
Pearl Dragon: CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!
Elvewyn Ferenthil: *meditate*
Pearl Dragon: STOP! Don't walk on the traps! Please don't go.
The Shadow: ....do not move.....allow my partner to retrieve her
traps.....
Pearl Dragon: Back up is ok
Elvewyn Ferenthil: you put them?
Pearl Dragon: Good.
The Shadow: Yes.....we were going to hunt trolls...I was
deactivating them when you came along.
Pearl Dragon: Please be more cautious, sir.
Elvewyn Ferenthil: those are not deers... its trolls! fight them!
Pearl Dragon: That's all of them..
The Shadow: ......traps work the same.....
Pearl Dragon: You can move safely now. Sorry for the problem..
The Shadow: ....good....let's move on to our next target.....
Elvewyn Ferenthil: I didn't wanted to pass here *grin*
Pearl Dragon: Yes.. ** Goodbye **
Pearl Dragon: What do you think about my weapons? Hmm.. Wanna see

Pearl Dragon: I can't show you one weapon that's bound to me.
Pearl Dragon: Arrows are just these.. usual ones..
The Shadow: .....and your armor?
Pearl Dragon: Please only peek at the armor.. *coyly and knowing

The Shadow: ....it seems you might need something more.....here.
Pearl Dragon: got some other stuff, too. like this is nice.. Rose

both well equipped? Just need more traps..
The Shadow: *shrugs* Very well.....
Pearl Dragon: Oh you want to trade something? No...Then I'm
looking forward to getting to know you more intimately soon, uh,
The...?
The Shadow: Heheheh....perhaps. Take this as a promise for that,

Pearl Dragon: Here have an apple.. They're said to be good for
your vigor...
(To be continued...?)
What say you, intrepid reader, has Pearl earned anyone's trust, and,
more to the point, does either of these typical
sensitive
males deserve to win
Pearl's
passionate heart?

The Shadow grinned as he
sawed off the head of the Chosen of Gruumsh. He had awaited for this
moment for quite some time, and now he was able to finish his
assignment. He felt a bit strange, however....he had not seen his
so-called partner for quite some time, and he would have gladly
split the reward with her had she accompanied him, but he had not
seen her anywhere.
The sickening sound of his sickle cutting through the orc's flesh
stopped as he finally decapitated the disgusting beast, shoving the
head into a bag at his side. His mission was over.....it was time to
get his reward.
As he ported back to Cordor, he exchanged the head for his two
thousand five hundred gold reward. Taking the gold into his pack, he
quietly wondered if he should still split the profits of this feat
with his partner....

This is a key point
that Forrmonster is said to be around 12 years old. He later sent a PM
offering (innocent) add vice for sexual relations with his characters
... Hmm. (Previously BrainPoliceXXX had advised Forrmonster
on the Peter-Elbow method of breaking writing blocks, so turn about is
fair play?) |

Pearl is not in a good mood when the news reaches her, as most
news in Cordor now does now-a-days since the growth of her
information-gathering networks has far out paced that of her
trapping skills.
"So this is how he employs my gift apple's vigor..." she muses...
Still nursing a hangover from the recent very unfortunate episode
resulting from letting that cute young elf escort her from a
rat-infested ship in Corder's harbor, where she'd saved his reckless
life, to the Nomad of all places. The Nomad, local adventurers'
watering hole, where she should have known she'd find her old
hunting comrades, Llewyn and Grag, both good hearted but impulsive
and incapable of tactical restraint from headlong rushes against
impossible odds, and that all the more so after a few drinks. Llewyn
and Grag, who would be bound to get her into troubles of the worst
kind. *Hah! Groan!*
... "I had intended that we enjoy the fruits of the apple's blessing
together in much more comfortable surroundings and while engaging in
far pleasanter pastimes than chasing orcs through cold caverns." And
now a fantasy she'd been indulging, elaborating it in her
imagination from time to time, entertains her once more:
She and the drow have just finished hunting together and are
both full of victory feelings, still pumped up with all that
energy of the battle. They hug each other in exultation, squeezing
each other tight with celebratory glee, then feel that passion
shifting, transforming in a quite natural way for a man and a maid
who've just undergone the bonding of battle and now ... they'd
pull apart then to gaze upon each other's faces, see the feelings
mirrored each in the others eyes, accept the love and mutually
forgive, because they'd mutually recognize, exchange and in giving
receive the full of their total lust... then, and here's the part
she'd nearly ritualized into a prayer of loving self-sacrifice,
she'd...
Falling to her knees, so that her
slightly greater hight is erased, Pearl looks up compassionately
into his eyes, saying, "Oh, my dear, I know the origin of part
of your secret pain. I understand, and I want to help you become
a free man." Rumors have reached Pearl of how drow men are
treated by their women, so she longs to comfort him, to give him
freedom and peace, even, if that would set him free, to say to
him. "Take me, use me like they used you, until you're cleansed
of all that stain on your soul. It won't bother me, even if
you're rough with me. I even long for that. Please." ...
Smiling at the intensity of feelings this reverie arouses,
becoming physical even to the point of a spreading warmth deep
inside her, Pearl returns her considerations to practical matters.
"Well," she thinks, "my troll-trapping partner to be, though we two
were not successful in that enterprise, has now become an adventurer
of means. Hum... Of course, he deserves every coin of that reward
for his efforts, and if he shows the wit and wisdom I'd expect him
to, he's already spent most of it on new equipment or traps, so I'll
have to work on my own for a bit to raise myself from the
impoverishment that ill-starred (Actually it was mead, not star dust
that fueled it.) misadventure with Grag and Llewyn has reduced me
to. Still, by the time I've done that, it's more than likely some
new "Chosen" orc will have ensconced himself in those caverns, so a
rogue in search of a quest should have little difficulty gaining
similar employment, and, with properly applied effort, similar
rewards. Thus, equipping herself with the tattered remains of her
former gear and dreams, Pearl girds up her loins and sets out hoping
to prove herself worthy of adventure and
love. |

Pearl Dragon (*Original moved
to DM forum. Here's what's left...*)
Pearl is seen here wading ashore near Cordor on a secret mission.
Encountering a stranger on the other side of the sand dunes she asked, "Ni
hao ma?" Then when greeted by a smile (Perhaps he found her attractive
although incomprehensible?) but no answer, she continued, "Ni bu jidao
Zhongwen . . .dui bu chi," switching effortless to local vernacular,
"Sorry, you speak Amian, don't you? My name's Pearl. Pearl Dragon."
Mentally chiding herself for the lapse, yet nearly certain the guy she'd
met would not fathom her covert enterprise.
If you should meet Pearl around town, she'll usually be quite willing
to chat with you when she's not busy. Pearl is a good listener because
she's an information specialist, trained in ferreting out secrets as well
as the uses of misinformation and disinformation. Of course, Pearl has
more esoteric services to offer as well; however, she's not going to tell
you anything significant in public since she's very conscious of
eavesdroppers, how easily valuable secrets are compromised, and how
swiftly rumors spread, so you'll have to make arrangements for a
clandestine meeting when you want to employ her, um, shadier talents.
When you encounter Pearl outside Cordor, she's all action, quick to
assess other adventures and join in their quests when invited.
Pearl doesn't have any telepathic ability nor does she waste time
discussing the "unworldly" . . . 'Nuff said?
