Harley Touring in U.S.A. '02
2002年06月22日

This is my friends, Pat & Pennie.
This year I will go to Sturgis from Boston with Pat & Pennie and funny company.
How excited!
I can't wait another minute!

33 more days until ignition!

2002年06月23日

Pat with 02 Springer Heritage '02.
His license number is BIONIC.
That is because he has artificial knee, had a disc replaced in his neck, and just had a plate put in his shoulder.
He will get Springer Heritage 03 soon.
He shows me how to live a comfortable life with Harley Davidson.
He is my ideal model.

32 more days until ignition!

2002年07月01日

This is our adventure plan.
We will ride from Derry, NH to Sturgis, SD.
Making plans is also an exciting time.
My friends had several meetings.
I joined them through the Internet.
I can feel how excited my friends are.

25 more days until ignition!

2002年07月12日

One of the best Harley Magazine in Japan, "Club Harley", promised to support my adventure.
Left is Mr. Jack Takahashi who is a chief editor.
Right is Mr. GAO who is a promising illustrator.
Beneath this picture, you can see another crazy editor whose name is Mr. Monsieur Maeda.
We talked about our dreams over much beer.

14 more days until ignition!

2002年07月25日

Time to ride!!!
Tomorrow we will leave for Sturgis.
Too excited to sleep tonight.

2002年07月26日

"Welcome to America!"
After test running, Pat said.
I realized the beginning of this adventure.

We ran through green forests.
Along the river, there were some towns reminding me of the Europe trip with my wife Akemi.
From Salem NH to Amsterdam NY (226 miles)

2002年07月27日

Part 1
500 miles riding led us to Sarina ON Canada.
Pennie said to me,
"Now you are a member of Iron Butt Club."
Two CORONA beer made my brain into V-twin engine.
(475 miles)

2002年07月27日

Part 2
Carol's lovely "Sports Star" was broken.
Pat was on the ground and repaired it.
"This is Harley Davidson, not HONDA. This is life. This is adventure."

2002年07月28日

Part 1
"On the road again! "Ann said.
Early in the morning, we had much rain and thunder.
We started for Manitowoc WI.
On the way to Ludington harbor,
She rides "Gold Wing" and showed me a signal of looking at the sky.
We could see an eagle with his wings wide open.
I couldn't take a picture.
I realize that the best sense we saw is taken by heart, not by camera.
(305 miles)

2002年07月28日

Part 2
After we had kept waiting, we were on board from Ludington MI to Manitowoc WI.
On the ship, we all slept with their mouths wide open.
I hesitated to take a picture, thinking of their honor.

2002年07月29日

Part 1
Harley Davidson Power Train Milwaukee WI
We could look at and sit on 2003 models.

At Super 8 Motel, Wisconsin Dell,
We enjoyed pool and sauna.
"No photo by the pool side, please!"
That is why I can't show you how cool they are.

From Manitowoc WI to Wisconsin Dells WI
(215 miles)

2002年07月29日

Part 2
We visited Milwaukee Harley Dealer.
All new models were already displayed.
Pat likes FLSTSC.
Once he rode on it, he would not ride it off.

2002年07月30日

Part 1
From the morning, ladies were so powerful. They are good at getting up early in the morning.
At the gas station, they danced to the music which had been composed before I was an elementary school boy.
"She got it. Oh baby, she got it. I'm a Venus..."

They said to me, "We will leave the motel at 8:00."
But we were on the road at 7:30.

From Wisconsin Dells WI to St. Cloud MN (323 miles)

2002年07月30日

Part 2
"Shiney motorcycle tour is under construction."
This is his joke.
He is so kind that he checked my Road King oil and added too much new oil.
He was "on the ground again.!"

We could ride without a helmet.
Nice and comfortable.
But we had a traffic jam due to a road construction.
We took another route and we lost our way.
Pennie said to me,
"The best adventure is to be lost."
I feel Pat & Pennie travel agency is trustworthy.

2002年07月31日

Part 1
Today we got bad news about approaching a storm.
So we delayed our departure but it was not long before a huge cloud surrounded us.
We were soaked to the skin and jumped into the EPSKY WOODWORKING to take shelter.
Gene Epsky was so nice that he spent an hour chatting with us.

Under any condition, Carol rode her Harley wildly.
"Young women, go west!" Ann said.

From St. Cloud MN to Jamestown ND (282 miles)

2002年07月31日

Part 2
Here comes the Sun again.
We enjoyed riding a country road.

I had good news.
Two of my books are printed in Taiwan.
That is why I treated dinner to my company.
They ordered more expensive food than usual and gave me big smiles.

2002年08月01日

Part 1
Sometimes Ann and Pat argue about, talk about which way to go.
We made a traffic jam.
I know a good saying, "Too much cooks spoil the meal."
So Lynn, Carol and I just eat the meal silently which they serve.
And I learned to wave to the car behind us with a big smile.

Today's destination is mystery.
Only Pat and Pennie knew where we would stay.
We were excited a lot.

From Jamestown ND to Stanton ND (176 miles)

2002年08月01日

Part 2
We reached Missouri River village.
Behind the village, there is a hill, one corner is called "Buffalo jump".
We went for a walk and thought about native Indian life.
We spent mysterious and gorgeous hours.

2002年08月02日

Part 1
Today we rode a horse wagon and went around the ranch.
In the wagon, Ann sung a song in a loud voice happily.
"Somebody has a gun." Pat said, "Her song prevented wild animals from coming near to us."

When I climbed up the sacred hill and down to the village, I was surrounded by the herd of cattle.
Some of them were trying to fight against me, others were just eating grass, and others were having sex.
Their life style is exactly the same as ours.
(18 miles)

2002年08月02日

Part 2
We went to the Indian Village.
When I entered the earth lodge, I found the smell like a sweet old home.
It is similar to my father's country home which had a roof made of straw.

After dinner, we had a relax time.
We watched the TV show whose title was "Sex and the city".
Everybody watched it speechlessly.
"Come on, Honey! Tonight is Saturday night." Pat said.
"It isn't Saturday." Pennie said.
"Any night is Saturday night."........
I could not have the courage to take a picture of them.

2002年08月03日

Part 1
On the way to the Dickinson, we took a route, "Enchanted Highway"
We came near to being eaten by a huge grasshopper.
Along this road, we saw some big objects.
This road led us to the fantasy world.

From Missouri River Village (Stanton ND) to Dickinson ND (278 miles)

2002年08月03日

Part 2
We went to Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
What a beautiful ride it was!
At every sightseeing spot, other family tourists go away as soon as our pack of bikes came close.
They regarded us as Hell's Angels? Maybe?

Fortunately, we saw buffalos, a coyote, and prairie dogs.
Unfortunately, we met a stupid waitress at the restaurant on the foot of badland.
I learned American don't know patience. (I agreeed with them.)
We got out there and ate pizza.
I am afraid it made me fat.

2002年08月04日

Part 1
We were on the road again.
We rode straight through the huge huge field for about 100 miles.
We could see the end of the field.
We could see no more than ten cars on the other side of the road.
On the field, cows laughed at our speed.
"Why do you go fast?" as if they spoke to us.
After refill some gas, we had rain for about 100 miles.
I couldn't see the same field.
It changed its face.
I felt as if we rode on the surface on the moon.

When we found the blue part in the sky.
We rode forwards straight to the Sun.
The Sun smiled on us.

From Dickinson to Rapid city (282 miles)

2002年08月04日

Part 2
We reached our heaven.
What an exciting town, maybe during this week!
Carol taught me a good saying, "Loud pipe saves your life."
This exhausted sound will be my good bed time story.

At this cottage, we'll start another story of this adventure.
Is it like "Sex and the town"?

2002年08月04日

Part 3
Lynn gave us a surprise present, T-shirts.
Can you read it?
"Born to be mile." "Mid-life Warrior"
How wicked nice!

In return,
I presented to only ladies a Japanese fan which my family made.
Pat said, "Don't spoil the ladies, I will have a big trouble after you leave."

2002年08月05日

Part 1
Today everybody woke up early.
We headed for Rapid city HD dealer to buy something and get my rental Harley.
Carol was sooooooo excited!
But
we had a mist and a rain on the way there,
She was soaked to the ........

From cottage to Rapid city (130 miles)

2002年08月05日

Part 2
We had a bad weather today but we went to Mt. Rushmore but we couldn't see the top of the mountain monument.
I bought a lot of my own souvenirs.
That is why we had heavy thunder storm on the way back to the cottage.
It looked like my wife's anger.

2002年08月06日

Part 1
Today is beautiful day.
We went to the Custer National Park.
We enjoyed a wonderful ride and wild animals, such as Buffalo, horse....
What a beautiful day!
I really enjoyed wild life ride.

Honestly speaking, I didn't buy a T-shirts today.
Don't worry! Akemi!

From Cottage to Custer National Park (110 miles)

2002年08月06日

Part 2
On the top of the hill,
we were happy enough to see "Boob shots".
What a gorgeous young ladies!
Thanks America!

Next, we saw "Moon shots".
Oh my God!
This is America!

These shots are coming soon.

2002年08月07日

Part 1
In the morning,
we went to Sturgis to join the demo ride.
I rode FLSTSC 100 anniversary model.
I wish I could smuggle it in my suits case.

After lunch,
we took a nap.
Pat has Saturday night everyday.
That is why he looked tired. (I was told to omit his picture.)

From cottage to Black Hill National Park (135 miles)

2002年08月07日

Part 2
In the afternoon,
we enjoy winding road riding.
We caught in a shower, but we had a rainbow and a beautiful sunlight.
When we ride Harley, we feel the beat of our earth.

2002年08月08日

Part 1
In the morning,
we rode to the Rushmore Mountain.
That statue were more imposing than I had expected.

You can see Lynn' best shot, which she will use as this year Christmas card.

From cottage to Custer and Keystone and Rapid city. (116miles)

2002年08月08日

Part 2
In front of the highly respectable presidents,
Pat was on the ground again.
"Wild" Bill tried to pick their noses.
Pennie stood looking down at her sweet heart speechlessly.

2002年08月08日

Part 3

We enjoyed a wicked good ride from Custer to Keystone..
We felt as if we rode a roller coaster.

The sky changed its face suddenly.
Ann said to every member like a President, "Go home now before shopping!"
We obeyed her order.

2002年08月08日

Part 4
At night, we went to Mt. Rushmore again in order to join an ceremony.
We sat in front of the monument and watched the video which was focus on the American history.
We sang the National Anthem.
As soon as we finished singing it, Ann said, "Play ball!"

Looking up at the sky, we could see the milky way.
We saw a shooting star.
I wished upon the star.
"Our friendship will last forever. "
And
"My marriage will last forever."

2002年08月09日

Part 1
We went to the Bad Land National Park.
On the way there, we dropped in at Scenic South Dakota.
The atmosphere of the town was that of an old town 100 years ago.

In the Bad Land National Park,
we enjoyed a mysterious riding like a riding through "the other planet".

From Cottage to Bad land (222 miles)

2002年08月09日

Part 2
Today I rode between Ann and Carol.

Ann always sang songs and sometimes she shook her Gold Wing to the music.

Carol sometimes yelled and had big big sneezes.
I could hear her sneezing through the sound of her pipes.

I enjoyed their riding as well as beautiful scenery.

2002年08月09日

Part 3
At night, we went to Sturgis by truck.
One hour and an half drive led us there, but, to tell the truth, I came near to vomiting.

At Sturgis, we saw many people excited about this year rally.
What an excited town!
I want to show you how it was, but, people who are under 20 are prohibited from seeing far more.
Call me in details.

2002年08月10日

Today was ladies day.
Suddenly, these ladies, Ann, Lynn, Carol said,
"We want to go to Wyoming!"
That is why we went there.
On the way there, we dropped in at Subway to have lunch.
Carol ordered a sandwich.
She picked up a kind of pickles and put them on my salad.
"I change my mind. "she said.
I was at loss for words.
"This is what woman do in USA."

Anyway,
thanks to them, I saw a beautiful scenery in Wyoming.
In order to take a great picture, I said, "Stand here!"
Carelessly, I forget to add to "Please".
"He told me to..., Now we have a new boss." they said.
I learned a lot from them.
Thank you very much!

(From Hill City to Newcastle 184 miles)

2002年08月11日

Today we went to horse-back-riding.
We knew how well Bill rode a horse.

Today was the last day at Hill City Cottage.
"I won't go home." everybody said.

We had supper at a good restaurant in Keystone.
Eating buffalo steak, we remembered our happy days here with beautiful people.
I think of this member as a family now.
Three mothers, one sister, one father, one brother, and two uncles.
Thank you very much, everyone!
I never forget your love.

(From cottage to Reverside camping ground 114 miles)

2002年08月12日

Today we had rain.
Some of the member would fly to Boston, some would drive back by truck.
Pat, Pennie, Ann, Carol and me rode back to Salem NH.
Bill said to me, "We keep on riding, we won't be lost. OK?!"

Route 90 was straight but wasn't attractive.
The rain, cold, boring road made us tired a lot.
Do you think we looked like skiers?
Everyone worried about other member's health.
Their kindness touched my heart warmly.

From Hill City to Sioux Falls (376 miles)

2002年08月13日

Part 1
Today we woke up early.
I worked out, watching TV exercise program.

The sky was blue and air was fresh.
Because of yesterday's rain, the field was filled with mist.
The sun reflected it brilliantly.
What a mysterious view!
We rode straight throughout the misty road.

From Sioux Falls to Wisconsin Dell (378miles)

2002年08月13日

Part 2
In the afternoon, we were caught in a shower and traffic jam.
These two days, we wake up, ride, have breakfast, ride again, drop in at a Harley dealer, ride again, have dinner.
We tend to get fat.
We need some exercise.
I work out in the pool.
Pat & Pennie work out between the sheets. Maybe....

2002年08月14日

We had some traffic jam and a little bit shower.
But we went through the big city, Chicago for 2 hours.
Chicago was bigger but uglier than I had expected.
Maybe I looked at the dark side of this big city.
The more people gather, the bigger difference between people emerge.
The difference is not always beautiful.
It sometimes causes some crime.

"Back to school" which I heard by TV.
It was the phrase that I didn't want to hear now.

From Wisconsin Dell to Howe IN (333 miles)

2002年08月15日

We rode through Cleveland, Pennsylvania state and New York state.
We just rode to NH.
I wish I could spend some more time here.

Because of my suntan, Carol calls me "raccoon".
Do you think I look like a raccoon?

From Howe IN to Fredonia NY (361 miles)

2002年08月16日

Part 1
During this adventure, we had three leaders of our pack of bikes.
When Pennie was the top of our pack, she observed the traffic speed limit regulation.
She is a good safe rider.
When Pat was the top our pack, his pace was unstable, sometimes too fast, sometimes too slow.
I think he rode thinking something else such as a happy night with his sweet honey.
When Ann was the top of our pack, her riding policy was easy to understand.
Any truck in front of us, we can pass.
Her riding is dynamic.

This is JJT-shirts which was given by Carol.
She gave me steak, salad, French fly which she couldn't eat.
She has really an attractive personality.

Thanks to them, we're sometimes lost, but had a really good ride.

From Fredonia NY to Amsterdam NY ( 316 miles)

2002年08月16日

Part 2
Today is Elvis day.
Ann and Carol watched special Elvis program on TV.
They yelled and screamed, "Oh...nice....Uhh...so good..."

On the other hand,
Pat and Pennie had been in their own world.

2002年08月17日

Part 1
We made it.
We rode about 5500 miles.
Before today's ride, Pat gave me a note.
I was impressed a lot.
I was almost crying.

Everybody had a great fun time on this adventure.
This member was gorgeous.
I want to keep in touch with them.
To tell the truth, we have already made another plan to ride out together.

As soon as we got back home, we cleaned our own bike, saying "Nice ride, thank you."

From Amsterdam NY to Salem NH ( 222 miles)

2002年08月17日

Part 2
We spent some times on the lake over a glass of cocktail.
"Between you and me, ....."
He told me how his life had been, how much he loves Pennie, how to treat ladies and so on.
I had another great time with Pat.
Thank you very much again, Pat!

2002年08月18日

Part 1
Ann and Pennie switched on the grandmother's mode again.
They turned themselves into grandmothers.
Their smiles were not all the same as yesterday.

Malasia (6 years old) and Ian (4 years old) have watched our adventure by Internet and cheered us up in front of the computer screen.
Thank you, future riders!

2002年08月18日

Part 2
Today's afternoon, I made another adventure by myself.
I just rode around Salem town.
I put a map, which was made by Pat, on the tank.

I enjoyed country-side riding.
I circulated the town three times, including Derry.
I couldn't lose my way but...
Before I gave icecream to kids, they had already left.

( Salem town riding 97 miles)

2002年08月19日

Part 1
Pat & I went to the seacoast riding.
That was my last adventure.
When I saw the sea, I felt comfortable.
When I smelled the sea, I felt relaxed.
After a long riding on the land, when I met the sea again,
I felt America is just a kind of big islands.
I imagine two countries floating on the same sea, America and Japan.
We are on the same planet, mother earth.

Thanks to Pat & Pennie and beautiful people, I had a good time.
I can't thank you enough.
To keep on riding is the best way to express my present feelings.
Thank you everybody!
I'm ready to hit the road again.

From Salem to Maine State (156 miles)

2002年08月19日

Part 2
Last night in NH,
I was invited to one of my best friend, Kevin & Dianne's home.
Three families came to see me.
I was impressed a lot.
Everybody was interested in how many Harley's parts and T-shirts I bought.
I can't answer the question through the Internet.
We had a very good time.
We wanted to have a slumber party but everybody had to work tomorrow.
Thank you very much for wonderful evening.
Please keep in touch.

2002年08月20日

Today was the final day when I would have to leave here.
Kevin & Pat surprised me a lot.
They prepared for this gorgeous car for me to go to the airport.
What wicked nice guys!
I enjoyed a luxurious time.

In the airport counter, I was told to pay $150 because of over weight baggage.
I shouldn't have bought many parts.

I'm home now.
Oh my sweet home!
Tonight is my Saturday night.
Please don't call me tonight!

Thank you very much again!
I already miss you very much.
See you again soon!
