This star field image including the Cone Nebula has captured about 5 degrees in span. A variable star of S Mon is glittering around center of image, and fine stars of open cluster is distributing around the star.
Very huge reddish nebulosities occupy almost this entire field. Its indistinct expanse extends to around the Rosette Nebula at 6 degrees southward. The complicated structures can be appreciated only in photographs. You can see a flow of dark nebula in northwest of this image.
