The Circumscribed Halo

On same condition that we can observe the tangent arcs displayed in previous page, we can see the elliptical halo captured in this picture only when the solar elevation is higher than 40 degrees. Although this picture hardly shows you the inner halo, the elliptical halo looks connected with the inner halo at the top and bottom parts, we call the rare halo "The circumscribed halo". This halo has a characteristic that right and left parts can be seen unclearly.
