* Umi-Tsukushi( Sea Cat-tail )

These "Sea Stethoscopes" transmit the sound of tidal waves from beneath the Pier to the Promenade above. Shaped like a horn and found in various positions, they create a field for "Sound Orienteering". The visitor can guess the level of the tide through the sounds they encounter, as they adjust their bodily position in relation to the apparatus.

* It seems to be a luminous organism, that moves in real time with the natural rhythm of the waves, fusing light with sound.

* 10 variations of the “Umi-Tsukushi” sound device, based on body height and posture

"Soundings: The Latent Sea" is a project that, effectively for the firsttime in Japan, really addresses the redefinition of the waterfront.

* Site : "Soundings: The Latent Sea"(Wave Wave Wave/Umi-Tsukushi)

It combines two elements, "WaveWave Wave" and "Umi-tsukushi ( Cat-tail ) " and manifests the Sea both visually and audibly.

"Wave Wave Wave": Sound enclosure
The work allows the visitor to freely define his or her bodily relation to the sound of the ocean.

"Umi-tsukushi ( Sea Cat-tail )": Sound Orienteering
The work is also a field of devices to move through, and asks the visitor to pause; to crouch; to strain one's body; to exercise one's concentration on the sound of the Sea.
