The Academy of Fine Popular Music
@
Before they formed Fairground Attraction, Eddi Reader and Mark E. Nevin had worked together in a group called The Academy of Fine Popular Music. Details not known, but at least the following songs were recorded and released:
Heart and Soul
The Morning After
These songs were included on some albums from Compact Organization, which was hosted by Tot Taylor, its producer.
A Young Person's Guide to Compact (includes Heart and Soul)
SingleCompact (includes both)
Do They Mean Us? (includes both)
Pens, Guns & Riffs (includes The Moning After)
They were considered to be released as a double A-sided single according to Tot Taylor's liner notes to SingleCompact, but they didn't make it after all.
Here are the personnel of the band according to the fan site of Tot Taylor:
Mark Nevin - guitar
Sadenia Eddi Reader - vocals
Dean Klevatt - keyboards
Phil Sewell - bass
Dave Ashley - drums
