Notes
This single is important when following Eddi Reader's discography,
because of its inclusion of Battersea Moon, which is officially only on this 7'' and casette single versions
of Dear John and not on the cd versions for the title(oh yeah, I know there's
an "unofficial" CD with this song). This mysterious sales decision
kept this song a hidden treasure. To make matters worse, though
Battersea Moon seems to have been performed live in the UK, it never was in
Japan. Naturally I wouldn't have known this song either if it
were not for the reference in Adrian Dover's site. So cheers to his great work.
Lyrically I don't quite understand this song with different themes for each verses(first verse mentioning about menses). But musically it's attractive with the typical elegant arrangement in this period. The flowing melodies from keyboards and accordion played by Teddy Borowiecki, and guitar sound really nice. Eddi's harmony fits the atmosphere well too.
