３人の男が３０ドル支払ってホテルに部屋を１つ取った。翌日，支配人は料金を過剰に請求していたことに気付き，彼らに返金するようにと５ドルをボーイに渡した。ところがボーイは部屋に向かう途中で自分で２ドルを懐に入れ，３人の男に１ドルずつしか渡さなかった。
さて，３人の男はそれぞれ９ドルずつ出し，総額２７ドルを支払った。これにボーイがくすねた２ドルを足すと全部で２９ドルとなる。残り１ドルはどこへ行ったのだろうか？
Three men checked into a hotel room for which they paid $10 each. The next day, the manager realized that the men had been overcharged. He gave the bellhop $5 to return to the three men. On the way to their room the bellhop decided to keep $2 for himself, and give each of the three men one dollar. The three men had now paid $9 each, or a total of $27. This plus the $2 the bellhop kept makes a total of $29. What happened to the other dollar?
