Proturan community was investigated at 6 stations along the southeast slope
of Mt. Komagatake, southern part of Iwate, in August 2001. The collection
comprised 18 species of 8 genera belonging to 2 families. The distinct
changes of the numbers of species and individuals, and the index values
of some species diversity were not correlated with the altitude. Species
compositions of 6 stations were divided largely into two groups: One is
composed of 2 stations (Sts. 6 and 5) of 710 m altitude and lower than
it, the other is composed of 4 stations (Sts. 1 - 4) higher than 710 m.
