NOVEMBER 2002 An order of Styrax japonica	11月 赤花エゴの木を出荷しました。 この木の場合には、「掘り取り機」と呼ばれる機械を使って根を切ります。 半円形の刃を土の中で回転させることによって半球形に根を切ることが出来ます。 手作業で行うのに比べて切り口が鋭く、根鉢の土を崩すことも少ないので根の傷みを最小限にすることが出来ます。
These photographs show us root-balling EgonokiStyrax japonica for an order. We used a 'U' blade under-cutter (seen fitted on the machine above) to lift the young trees. The sharp blade of this machine causes only minor damage to the tree roots of these young trees which are able to put on new roots when planted.		麻縄と麻布を使って根を保護し輸送に耐えられる状態に包装します。 技術と体力のいる仕事です。
The trees are selected to order. All require to be the same size and quality, free from pest and disease. The tree root balls are wrapped in hessin for protection.	私たちは、多くの木の中からご注文の大きさ品質の物を選びます。
	When wrapping has finnished they are loaded onto the 'box frame'. The 22 trees are then lifted onto the delivery vehicle in one go to save time and reduce manual handling.	包装された木は、台車ごとトラックに積み込みます。 この日は22本の木を一回の作業でトラックに積み込むことが出来ました。 この方法は、一本ずつ積み込むのに比べ手間が省けるのと同時に木にダメージを与える確率を減らすことにもなります。
The 'Mitsubishi' delivery lorry has four-wheel drive and the mounted crane is useful for moving heavy loads.		農場のすべてのトラックは四輪駆動車ですが、それでも雨が降っている日には、地面がぬかるんで運搬が困難になる場合もあります。 幸い今日は良い天気で順調に作業を進めることが出来ました。 植木は台車に載せたままの状態で大型のトラックが横付け出来る積み場に置かれます。 この場所で他の植木といっしょに大型のトラックの到着を待ちます。
