Popularity about Fauré's First Quintet

This 1st quintet, which has 3 movements, is one of the best masterpieces in any Fauré's works, besides, it is one of the best works in whole chamber music, e.g. Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and so on. However, people could not understand the value of this quintet, and I realize the reason, because it's charmness is too subtle to feel.

This quintet shows often very little transition. To the truth, modulation of this work is surprising, but the preparation, i.e. melody, rhythm, texture, harmony are ordered, not improvisative.

For example, observing texture of first movement, the accompanyment form of piano are almost constant in first theme, and the harmonic notes are changing little by little.

First Movement : Fauré's Masterpiece

This movement shows Fauré's excellent sence and romnaticity for music. Piano plays colorful and wide arpegio, which consists of d minor. First theme was presented by 2nd violin and piano's accomniment and violin's melody get to harmonical feelings.

Second Movement : Dream and Fantasy

Third Movement : Song of Joy
