Style "Concerto"

Gabriel Fauré composed only one 'conterto', namely "Violin Concerto". This work have unfinished. And he left two works for piano solo and orchestra. One is "Ballade Op.19" and another is "Fantasie Op.111". The former was arranged from piano solo by himself, but the latter is an independent work, not arranged.

Violin Concerto

His only Violin Concerto is unfinished. Fauré composed the first two movements, but never complete the third movement. And second movement Andante was lost.

SQ It is well known that his last string quartet (SQ) was quoted by the violin concerto. The two themes are shown. First theme is as follows:

This theme is resembles with 1st violin's in SQ's first movements of bars 5-8 . The difference is SQ's theme is frigian mode.

The difference is that concert has some triplets and quartet has none.
