Ballade Op.19

When Ballade pour piano seul was told, an episode is accompanied with the work. Famous pianist, Franz Liszt, first played the Ballade, he said "It is too less my fingers to play it" . (People say that it is too difficult to play it, but it is incorrect.) He felt the difficulty not in the technique, but in the style of music.

Form

Part A is Andante Cantabile, 4/4 times. The melody is charming, which he liked in his life

The melody develops to canon. In the orchestral version, melody of a flute chases the advanced piano phrase.

Part B is Allegro moderato, 4/4 times. Combination of diatonic progress and arpeggio make fascinating melodies, which vary between major and minor.

Part C is Andante, 6/8 times. Melody moves in limited region like tremoro. Winds instruments play the melody and harmony, then the piano widely plays arpeggio.

After that, Tremoro of part C is extended and deformded, became C1 (Allegro, 4/4 Times) part C1 and B are developed.

Finally Part C appears and finishs quietly.
