Lepiota clypeolarioides Rea

This mushroom has never been reported in Japan although rather common in coniferous woods of higher mountain, about 1000 to 2500 meter high from sea level. Fruit body 5- 11cm tall, cap 3-8 cm wide. The pileipellis composed by trichoderma which sometimes lost by rain or after maturation. There is no distinct ring or ring zone at stipe, lower part of stipe covered light brown cottony hyphae and dark brown scales are at base.

This species was identified lately from nucleotide sequence of rDNA ITS reagion. The closest species was Lepiota cortinarius J. E. Lange.
