The symposium which lasted for five years has come to an end. The sculptors, staff, and citizens of Mine have different personalities, values and habits but each person can understand and agree on the culture of Mine's marble.

I intended and acted in a way to use Mine's marble culture tocreate good scenery in Mine and also to give the citizens of this city a rich life.

At first I only saw the sculptures that were left in Mine.
Recently, when I look at Mine I notice that everyone can naturally think that my past intentions can be done.

First the purpose was to create the sculptures.

Until five years ago the grounds of Raifukudai were only covered by grass. It is now become the peaceful housing area where we can listen to the playful voices of children everywhere.

The works of white marble draw the character of this area very well in this favored environment, and they will continue to send a message for the future.
As for this I can not estimate whether or not this will continue for 20 or 30 years more, or 200 or 300 years more. A long time is needed so that a global culture can be developed.

In other words, actual creation will begin from now. Although this symposium is over, it is not the end. This is the first step towards the future. The efforts of everyday advance slowly and carefully but I look forward to this creation.

Lastly, I was given the position of symposium coordinator and I look back and feel that I have not done a good job. However, I would like to say thanks to everyone for helping me and for the safe completion of this marble symposium.
