2005年3月17日 とうとうジェーニャが欠場決意しました。ユーロスポーツにインタビューのムービーが出ています。 Reference: Eurosport 満身創痍で最悪のコンディションの中、限界を越えてここまで闘い続けたジェーニャにまずは敬意を表したいです。モスクワでのワールド開催が決まってからずっと、自国の観客の前で優勝したい、というのはジェーニャにとって五輪の金メダルに次ぐ夢だったろうと思うんです。もちろんロシア代表として枠を確保しなければいけない義務や、ロシア国内で開催されるスペシャルイベントにはどうしても自国のスター選手プルシェンコを欠くことはできない、という主催者側の要望もあったろうと思う。でもそれらのプレッシャー以上に、ジェーニャは心底故国を愛していて誇りに思っている。自分を愛して誇りに思ってくれるロシアの観客の期待に何としても応えたかったんだろうと思います。 結果的に闘い続けることはできなかったけど、どうかジェーニャに自分がファンの期待を裏切ったとは思わないでほしい。とても悲しいけれど、私たちにとってもあなたが五輪で金メダルを獲得することがいちばん大事な夢なんだから。 まずは健康を取り戻して、来季王者プルシェンコの復活を！ 2005年3月15日 SP終わって５位、総合では現在３位です。トップはワールドで絶好調のランビエール。 Russian Expressの報道によると怪我は左側でトゥループをすると痛みを伴うとか。いくらジェーニャでもこのハンデは大きいですね。あくまでトップを狙いにいくか、メダルを確保するために予選と同じくクリーンな演技を目指すかで作戦は大きく変わってくると思います。僅差だからまだまだ可能性は十分にある。最終的に決めるのはスケーター本人の意志だもんね。後はもう武運を祈るだけ。

Reference: 2005年3月14日 余りにも直前までジェーニャに関するニュースが少なすぎると思ってはいましたが、朝いきなり腿の怪我のため欠場の可能性があるとのニュースを知ってびっくり。その後ロシアチームはプルシェンコの欠場は根も葉もない噂だ、すべて順調であると発表しましたが、実際日曜日の練習を取材したニュースであったため今いち信用できず。直前までどうなることだろうとずいぶん心配しましたが、結局Aグループいちばん滑走で予定通り出場しました。４回転こそなかったようですが、３つのコンビネーションジャンプを含める８つのトリプルジャンプを決め、ゴッドファーザーをクリーンに滑り切り、結果Aグループ１位で通過（得点ではBグループ１位のランビエールに僅かに及ばず２位）。でもジェーニャが予選にニジンスキーを準備して来なかったこと、４回転を跳ばなかったこと、何よりいつもより若干低めの構成点がジェーニャのコンディションがベストではないことを裏付けているように思いました。でもホントによくそんな状態でクリーンに滑った！ ロシアではジェーニャが鼠径ヘルニアに悩まされているというニュースがあったようなのですが、元ソースが発見できない。だとしたら早く手術しなければいけないはずなのですが、ホントのところどうなんだろう…。まだまだSP、フリーと心配は続きますが、とにかく無事に滑り切ることを祈りたいです。
