Free Skating marks:
Elements: 4-toe-3-toe-3-loop, 3-toe, 3-axel (almost way above the boards), 3-lutz, 3-axel-2-toe, just before a 3-flip, 3-salchow (doubled) 直後のニュースより: Plushenko tried only one quad but made it count, opening with a quad toe-triple toe-triple loop combination and his only serious failing was doubling a triple loop. He won technical marks of 5.7-6.0 and his newly mature presentation got 5.8-5.9s. Although he turned 20 three weeks ago and his programs now lack adolescent posturing, he indicated his love of mischief isn't depleted. "I don't know, maybe we'll find something funny to do later," said Plushenko, whose exhibition program last year was a near-total striptease to "Sex Bomb." Plushenko, world champion in 2001, dazzled a large home crowd at Moscow's Luzhniki arena with his usual display of artistry, precision and jumping ability, also scoring one 6.0 mark for technical merit. "I have to be satisfied with my performance tonight," said Plushenko, who cleanly landed a unique combination of quadruple toe-loop, triple toe-loop and triple ritberger. "I executed a clean 4-3-3 combination, which to my knowledge no one has been able to achieve until now in figure skating history. "I made a big mistake on the same jump in Salt Lake City but tonight it was clean, so it made me feel even better," added the 20-year-old Russian, who finished second to compatriot Alexei Yagudin at this year's Winter Olympics. "Of course, I could have done a more difficult program if I had to. I was thinking of doing another quad but then I said to myself that it wasn't necessary." Free Skating photo!! 2002年11月22日
Short Program marks:
直後のニュースより: Russia's Evgeni Plushenko led the men's event, nosing out China's Li Chingjiang and Russian countryman Alexander Abt even though he fell on his opening quad. Plushenko's program, to the Adagio by Albioni, showed his efforts to move into a more classic, balletic style and out of the teenage cockiness that delighted many. Growing up may have its downside for him; he said the quad failed because "I lacked confidence during the landing" ― a striking admission for someone who a year ago bragged that he was working on an all-quad program.
